In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Kennetcook Hants North Rural Flames dispatched the 3rd-seeded Monastery East Antigonish Mustangs 78-62. “Our boys came out intense but the refs were blowing lots of whistles early, so this forced us to change our defense strategy,” Mustangs coach Terry Long told the Port Hawkesbury Reporter. “This was probably the most exciting game of tournament as the Mustangs battled back from three different 7 to 9-point deficits to tie the game with three minutes left. In the last minutes of the game, Hants North Grand 12 star Colby Turple had two and one and a deep three to ice the game for Hants North.” Colin Jarvis paced the Mustangs with 24, along with 7 boards and 5 assists. Kendal Breen added 17, along with 8 assists.

In the bronze medal match, the 3rd-seeded Monastery East Antigonish Mustangs clocked the 4th-seeded Port Hawkesbury Strait Area Education and Recreation Centre Saints 64-22. The Mustangs broke to a 14-1, led 33-4 after one quarter and were never threatened. “I knew when I walked in the dressing room our boys were ready to show them what we were really made of,” Mustangs coach Terry Long, told the Port Hawkesbury Reporter. “They were not going to let a provincial medal slip away. Foul trouble to Allan (MacKeigan) and Ray MacMaster put the game out of reach for the

Saints. … Our boys recently lost to SAERC for our league banner this year. It was our worst game of the year, after beating them for three straight years our boys took them way to lightly. This was not going to be the case playing for a bronze medal. Our boys played great in the first quarter, jumping out to a 14-1 lead and kept rolling to lead 33-2 after the first quarter. We never looked back. Colin Jarvis paced the Mustangs with 16. Kendal Breen added 15, Craig Perry 13, Pat Brouwer 11 and Brandon Raymond, 10. “It went decent,” Saints co-coach Greg Cogswell told the Port Hawkesbury Reporter. “The match-ups were pretty even, and the refereeing was great. And finishing up fourth in the province; you really can’t go wrong with that. We didn’t think we’d make it this far. Making it to provincials, that was a positive thing. It was a year to remember.” The Saints (co-coached by Greg Cogswell and Jason Seymour) also included Darcy McGee, Mitchell MacCuspic, Alfred Burgesson, David Greencorn, Patrick Sampson, Mike MacMaster, Mark MacLeod, Nathan Hayes, John MacInnis, Mitchell MacCuspic, Jensen Seymour and Delaney Seymour.
