Gators coach Ben Hachey told Nova News Now that the tournament “was indicative of our play all season. We play defence passionately and limit second chances. Our composure and maturity gives the opposition very few turnovers to work with, and our scoring is always there. Our graduating players provided the leadership that all championship teams require to get over the hump.” Emma Hachey paced the Gators with 21. Kennedy Curry added 11. The Gators build a 15-point lead in the third quarter but the Panthers shifted to a full-court press and rallied with within six with two minutes to play. “But we “dug in and shut them down,” said Hachey added that the win came down to “pride – pride in our respect for the game, other players, officials and coaches. The competitive spirit they have, combined with discipline and integrity, make this a dream team to coach. The players work hard for us, and the wins just come as a result of this work ethic. The coaching staff tries to lead by example and has not received a technical foul in five years.” The Gators finished (31-3) on the season. MacKenzee Ryan paced the Panthers with 25.
