He also dished 7 assists. Jordan Phee led the Royals with 27. Jack Pittman added 19, along with 11 assists and 6 steals, Bobby Burke 10, and Paul Bond 5, along with 4 boards. The Cougars (coached by Tim Nettle and Ryan Dupre) included Ben Silver, Dillon Sequin, Teoman Ugurluoglu, Janvier Mutambala, Connor LeBlanc, Moussa Soumara, Sam deMontigny, Sam Minacapelli, Gabriel Nettle, Alex Gibson, Gerson Civil and Ali Regab.
The 5th-seeded Middle Sackville Millwood Knights edged the 4th-seeded Shelburne Regional Rebels 89-83. The Rebels (coached by Darren Jacklin, assisted by Adam Firth) included Kyler Hemeon, Tyson Hartley, Cordell Dyous, Tanner Swim, Daniel Slack, Cam Trevors, Oliver Harding, Kerry Arcon, Ethan O’Connor, Trevor Fehr, Zachary Mahaney and Nick Branscombe.
The 2nd-seeded Amherst Regional Vikings clubbed the 7th-seeded Auburn West Kings Wolverines 59-30 as Sam Leblanc scored 15, Frank Bacon 12 and Aiden Devine 11. Kyle DeEll led the Wolverines with 11. Cameron Charlton added 9. The Wolverines (coached by John Wilson and Greg Wheeler, manager Peter Clark) also included Nathan McKay, Derek Haines, Jason Chalifoux, Nick Paquette, Zach Hodder, Malakai Walker, Andy Brydon, Shannon Buglar, Aidan Clark, Jackson Disley and Hans Vinas.
In the last quarterfinal, the 3rd-seeded Port Hawkesbury Strait Area Education and Recreation Centre Saints defeated the 6th-seeded host Windsor King’s-Edgehill 72-65 as Owen MacLean scored 23, Logan Smith 13, Stewart MacDonald 13 and Matthew Reynolds 11. Cameron Ross led King’s-Edgehill with 32. In the semis, the 2nd-seeded Amherst Regional Vikings stomped the 3rd-seeded Port Hawkesbury Strait Area Education and Recreation Centre Saints 76-49 as Aiden Devine scored 23. Breton MacNeil led the Saints with 15.
In the other semi, the top-seeded Antigonish Dr. John Hugh Gillis Royals torched the 5th-seeded Middle Sackville Millwood Knights 73-55 as Jack Pittman scored 30, while notching 11 boards and 5 assists. Nicholas Dayman scored 14, while notching 16 boards and 8 assists, Jordan Phee 14, and Johannes Harrison-Steinhart 5. Gabe Nasrallah led the Knights with 16.
In the bronze medal match, the 3rd-seeded Port Hawkesbury Strait Area Education and Recreation Centre Saints spanked the 5th-seeded Middle Sackville Millwood Knights 88-67 as Matthew Reynolds scored 33, Stewart MacDonald 14, Cameron MacDougall 12 and Breton MacNeil 12. Jack (Jake?) MacNeil led the Knights with 17. Gabe Nasrallah added 14. The Knights (coached by Jarret Head, assisted by Brandon Brown and James Webb) included Adam Martell, Nolan Hickey, Jamel Beals, Joey White, Liam MacMillan, Zakk Gorman, Matt Ferguson, Morgan Rae, Jayden Mabbett and Jake Wilson.
In the final, the top-seeded Antigonish Dr. John Hugh Gillis Royals captured their third consecutive provincial title by dispatching the 2nd-seeded Amherst Regional Vikings 73-60 as Jack Pitman scored 41, while nabbing 14 boards, Anthony Sears 12, along with 7 boards, 4 steals and 3 blocks, Nicholas Dayman 9, along with 13 boards, and Jordan Phee 8. The Royals led 40-30 at the half. Sam Leblanc led the Vikings with 24. Nabil Mohamad added 9 and Justin Milner 9. “The biggest thing – as it has been throughout the season – is the team effort,” Royals coach Jason Daymon told The Casket. “Everyone stepped up and did what was asked of them – whether it was on the floor or from the bench.” Dayman added that the team’s mantra all season was “taking care of business.” Dayman said Johannes Harrison-Steinart (nicknamed Beannie) “Beannie’ played incredible defence against their big player, pushing him out of the post, which was a key to winning for us.”
