In the semis, the Lockeport Regional Green Wave defeated the Pugwash District Panthers 61-51 as Bruce Atkinson scored 20, Gary Redding 16 and Don MacKay 13. Pugwash was led by Allan Wolfe’s 16 and Ned Ripley’s 14 points.
In the other semi, New Waterford Central defeated the Halifax West Warriors 89-56 as George Hughes scored 29 and Terry MacGibbon 29. Halifax West was led by Bruce Duffy’s 22 points.
In the final, a double overtime affair, the Lockeport Regional Green Wave held on for a 63-57 victory over New Waterford Central even though all five of its starters fouled out by the end of the first overtime. The teams were tied at 55 after regulation play and at 57 after the first three-minute overtime period. Bruce Atkinson led Lockeport with 22. Curt Williams added 15, Gary Redding 12, Donnie MacKay 10, Allan Atkinson 2 and Roland Swim 1. The Green Wave won their second consecutive title and coach Eldon Forbes completed a boys and girls B double. New Waterford was paced by George Hughes 10, Terry MacGibbon 17, Demeter 12, MacAuley 12, Timmons 3 and McPherson 3. Central finished (10-4) on season.
