In the quarterfinals, hosted by Horton High, the 2nd-seeded Greenwich Horton Griffins defeated the 7th-seeded Halifax Queen Elizabeth Lions 68-42 as Robyn Fleckenstein scored 16, Abbey Duinker 14, Jasmine Parent 14 and Emma Duinker 11. “In the second half we started playing Horton basketball,” Fleckenstein told the Halifax Chronicle Herald. Jenna Clark paced the Lions with 13. Anna Von Maltzen added 12. The Lions also included Deanna Yarr, Kiersten Pianosi, Nicole McNeil, Kiersten Pianosi.
The 3rd-seeded Truro Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars dumped the 6th-seeded Cole Harbour Auburn Drive Eagles 74-71 as Rhonda Kennedy and Natasha Baker each scored 20. Stephanie Hiltz led the Eagles with 30. Sondra Medley added 20, Nicole Works 15 and Sarah MacLeod 11. The Eagles also included Sondra Medley, Jasmine Smith, Ashley Moser, Evangeline Francis, Niki Strowbridge.
The 5th-seeded New Waterford Breton Education Centre Bears defeated the 4th-seeded Halifax St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish 71-60 as Chelsea MacKay scored 31, including four treys. Keisha Brown led the Fighting Irish with 16. Holly Rhodenizer added 13. The Fighting Irish also included Trish McNeil, Hannah MacDonald, Maddy Raymond, Carley Lewis.
In the last quarterfinal, the top-seeded Halifax Grammar Gryphons pounded the 8th-seeded Dartmouth Spartans 88-45 as Justine Colley scored 23 and Anne Kibbard 15. Belicia Bella-Ashe led the Spartans with 17.
In the semis, the 3rd-seeded Truro Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars defeated the 2nd-seeded Greenwich Horton Griffins 75-63 as Rhonda Kennedy scored 20. Lindsay Harris paced the Griffins with 21. Emma Duinker added 14, Robyn Fleckenstein 14 and Jasmine Parent 10.
In the other semi, the Halifax Grammar Gryphons defeated the New Waterford Breton Education Centre Bears x-x.
In the bronze medal match, the 2nd-seeded Greenwich Horton Griffins defeated the 5th-seeded New Waterford Breton Education Centre Bears 78-57 as Emma Duinker scored 32, Jasmine Parent 21, Katrina Windslade 9 and Robyn Fleckenstein 8. After the game, Griffins coach Bev Greenlaw retired. The Bears (coached by Doug MacKinnon, assisted by Jason Kavanaugh) included Alyssa Kavanaugh, Chelsea MacKay, Joanna Gallant, Brittany MacKenzie, Katelyn Grechuk, Natalie MacSween, Kaleigh MacDonald, Emily Burke, Raylene MacKay, Samantha McKinnon, Deb Desveaux and Heather Marsh.
In the final, the Halifax Grammar Gryphons defeated the 3rd-seeded Truro Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars 85-58. Justine Colley paced the Gryphons with 31. The Gryphons finished (36-1) on the season.
