The Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation again changed the playoff format. Previously, the top two teams at each of the four regionals qualified for the provincials. As of 1999, only the four regional winners qualified. The four-runners-up advanced to two qualifying tournaments.
In the quarterfinals, held in Bridgewater, the Halifax Queen Elizabeth Lions defeated the Antigonish Dr. John Hugh Gillis Royals x-x.
The top-seeded Bridgewater Park View Education Centre Panthers defeated the 8th-seeded Halifax St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish x-x. The Fighting Irish included Veronica Bailey.
The 2nd-seeded Truro Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars dispatched the 7th-seeded Sydney Academy Wildcats x-x.
In the last quarterfinal, the Sackville Kingfishers defeated the Coxheath Riverview Rural Royals x-x.
In the semis, the 2nd-seeded Truro Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars defeated the Halifax Queen Elizabeth Lions x-x.
In the other semi, the Sackville Kingfishers dumped the Bridgewater Park View Education Centre Panthers x-x.
In the bronze medal match, the Halifax Queen Elizabeth Lions defeated Bridgewater Park View Education Centre Panthers 71-54. The Panthers included Marg Messenger.
In the final, the Sackville Kingfishers dumped the 2nd-seeded Truro Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars 80-69 to earn their second consecutive provincial title. Julie Clattenburg paced the Kingfishers with 31. JoAnne Wells added 22 and Erin McDiarmid 14. Lindsay Walsh led the Cougars with 23. Robyn Joe added 16.
