In the quarterfinals, held in Wolfville, the top-seeded Dartmouth Cole Harbour District Cavaliers defeated the 8th-seeded Halifax St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish 72-52 as Narlen Thompson scored 16, Graham Farmer 14, Rollie Colley 11 and Dave Reynolds 11. Alex Brown notched 12 for St. Patrick’s. Justin Hickey added 10. The Fighting Irish also included Darcy Dixon, Chris MacAvoy.

        The 2nd-seeded Halifax Queen Elizabeth Lions dumped the 7th-seeded New Waterford Breton Education Centre Bears 82-57 as Tyson Beals scored 27, Damon Cole 23 and Bam McQuaid 10. Darrel Young led the Bears with 26. Sheldon Ratchford added 10. The Bears (coached by Lowell Cormier, assisted by Greg White) also included Jason Hawley, Carlton MacDonald, Ian Burke, Brent MacPherson, Jeff Stapleton, Mark MacDonald, Curt MacKenzie, Scott MacLeod, Freddie Connors and Aaron Felt.

        The 6th-seeded Bridgewater Park View Education Centre Panthers trimmed the 3rd-seeded Greenwich Horton Griffins 66-60 after Randy Cyr nailed a trey with 2:18 to play to break a 59-59 deadlock. Jeff Mayo led the Panthers with 21. Derrick Taylor added 16. Cameron Lewis led Horton with 25. Kevin Pick and Mark Clarke each added 11.

        In the last quarterfinal, the 5th-seeded Coxheath Riverview Rural Royals defeated the 4th-seeded Truro Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars x-x. The Cougars (coached by Brent Baker, assisted by R Hergot) included Marc Roberts, Nick Matheson, Chris McKenna, Shervan Khanna, James MacPherson, Peter Hunt, Mark Creelman, Kyle Paris, Richard Bennecke, Glenn Thompson, Shaun Davison, Sonjay Khanna and Chris Clarke.

        In the semis, the 6th-seeded wildcard Bridgewater Park View Education Centre Panthers edged the 2nd-seeded Halifax Queen Elizabeth Lions 70-67 as Steve Morris and Derek Taylor each scored 14. Tyson Beals led the Lions with 28. Damon Cole added 19.

        In the other semi, the Dartmouth Cole Harbour District Cavaliers defeated the Coxheath Riverview Rural Royals 81-65 as Rollie Colley and Graham Farmer each scored 18. Kurt Mombourquette led the Royals with 41.

        In the bronze medal match, the Halifax Queen Elizabeth Lions defeated the Coxheath Riverview Rural Royals 63-49.

        In the final, the Dartmouth Cole Harbour District Cavaliers edged the Bridgewater Park View Education Centre Panthers 83-78 in overtime to avenge a loss in the 1990 final. Senior forward Rollie Colley twice pilfered the ball in overtime for transition layups to help the Cavaliers pull out the win. Graham Farmer led the Cavaliers with 23, including four free throws in the final seconds of overtime play. Vance Bundy added 22, Rollie Colley 16 and Troy Smith 10. “What a tough game,” said Cavaliers coach Reg Bezanson. “Same as last year. Same score, the only difference was it went into overtime. When two good teams like this play, someone has to lose. This time, I’m just glad it wasn’t us.” Randy Cyr led the Panthers with 16. Steve Morris added 14, Derrick Taylor 14 and Jeff Mayo 10. Park View coach Jack Murphy said “you couldn’t have asked for a better final. When you’re in a provincial championship and it’s tied at the half and tied at the end of regulation, you just can’t ask for anything more. Our kids gave everything they had but luck finally ran out on them.”
