In the semis, the Halifax Queen Elizabeth Lions defeated Auburn West Kings District Wolverines 59-39 despite trailing by one at the half. The Lions outscored the Wolverines 34-13 in the second half as Irv Cohen scored 21, Gerry Smith 13 and Jim Lovett 11. West Kings was led by forward Gary Keddy 9, Paul Webster 9, Ted Howard 7, Bob Howard 6 and Orlay Veno 8.
In the other semi, the Truro Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars (then Truro High) defeated the Sydney Academy Wildcats 54-33 as centre Bruce Bourassa scored 22 points and grabbed 19 rebounds, Bud Copeland 9, and Mac Murray 9. Truro was ahead 26-14 at the half. Sydney Academy was led by Sandy Huntley 5, Murray McPherson 4 and Ralph Skinner 4.
In the final, the Halifax Queen Elizabeth Lions returned to the winner’s circle after a five-year hiatus by defeating Truro High 47-32 as Irv Cohen scored 15, Gerry Smith 14, 6-6 centre Jim Lovett 9 and 13 rebounds, Mel Ritcey 2, Barry Shakespeare 5 and Vic Arnold 2. Truro was led by forward Chris Meadows 11, Mac Murray 6, Bud Copeland 5, Richard Mosher 4, Wayne Talbot 4 and Bruce Bourassa 2. The Lions started Barry Shakespeare at centre, Gerry Smith and Vic Arnold at the guards and Mel Ritcey and Irv Cohen at forwards.
