The provincial semi-finals became the provincial finals when the Yarmouth Vikings notified Halifax QEH that they were forfeiting the final series because four of their 10 players were off in Newton, Massachusetts on an exchange program and also because required financial guarantees to bring QEH down from Halifax were impossible to provide.
In the quarterfinal, the Sydney Academy Wildcats defeated East Pictou Rural 53-46; 56-38.
In the other quarterfinal, the Halifax Queen Elizabeth Lions thumped Colchester County Academy 56-16; x-x (Total: x-x)
In the provincial semis, which became the provincial finals, the Halifax Queen Elizabeth Lions annihilated the Sydney Academy Wildcats 70-25; 78-28 (Total: 148-53).
In game one, QEH’s height and precision passing dominated as the Lions raced to a 32-9 lead at the half en route to a 70-25 victory. The Lions were paced by Pete Simmonds 27 points. Dave Woodworth added 24 and Mike Noble 11. Sydney Academy was led by Joe Jackomek and Bruce Wilson, each of whom scored 12.
In game two, the Lions thrashed the Wildcats 78-28. Mike Noble scored 26. Peter Simmonds added 23, George Bendelier 12, Dave Woodworth 7, Dankner 6, Dave Lawrence 4, Hoare 0, McDonough 0 and House 0. Sydney was led by Bruce Wilson’s 9 points. Joe Jackomek added 5.
