In the final, the Twillingate JM Olds Collegiate Tigers defeated Trepassey Stella Maris Mermaids 72-55 to capture the school’s first provincial title. The Mermaids led 34-33 at the half. Four of the Mermaids starters fouled out in the second half as the Tigers wore down the Mermaids. “We essentially walked over the opposition in the round-robin,” Tigers coach Scott Simms told the Lewisporte Pilot. “The only team at the tournament that was anywhere close to the aliber of our team was the team we met in the championship from Stella Maris.”
