In the semis, the Saint John Greyhounds edged the Sussex Sonics 51-50 as Alysha Mehta and Jen MacKinnon each scored 11. Hilary Cummings led the Sonics with 21. Haley Doney added 16. The Sonics led 30-28 at the half. “We played with a lot of heart and I told the girls before the game the odds were against us but when the chips were about to fall, we didn’t lose our composure. We stayed in the game and this is a huge win for us.” Greyhounds head coach Jason Stephen said.

In the other semi, the Fredericton Black Kats defeated the Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans 63-58 as Kelsey Daley scored 24, Jen Black 14 and Amanda Sharpe 11. Melissa Bryant led the Trojans with 18. Kari Everett added 17 and Kristan Atkins 14. The score was knotted at 34 at the half.

In the final, the Fredericton Black Kats pounded the Saint John Greyhounds 62-38 as Kelsey Daley scored 20, despite being ill with a fever a day earlier, while nabbing 8 boards. Catherine Barry added 16. Greyhounds coach Jason Stephen told the Moncton Times & Transcript that “they’re a good team, and I’m not going to take anything away from them. We played our game and you know when you’re in championship games and you make a couple of mistakes that’s what happens.” The Black Kats were without point guard Devan Lisson, who injured a knee at the start of the season but Kelsey Daley stepped in and led the Black Kats to a 37-11 season. Daley, who was chosen player of the game for Fredericton, “is a true-blue Black Kat,” coach Steve O’Rourke told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner. “I remember her when she was just a little toddler running around the high school gym. Her dream someday was to be a Black Kat. And she’s leaving with three championships, leaving as a team captain, leaving as MVP at the Aitken Centre. It doesn’t get any better than that.”
