In the regional semis and provincial quarterfinals held in Fredericton, the Saint John Greyhounds defeated the Moncton Purple Knights 67-61 as Gould scored 18 and Cox 12. Kari McArdle led the Purple Knights with 20. Jill McArdle added 18.
In the other regional semi, the Fredericton Black Kats dispatched the Bathurst Phantoms 69-54 as Hitchcock scored 14 and Fraser 10. Jill Boucher led the Phantoms with 16. Tandi Dempsey added 12. The Phantoms also included Katie Gammon.
In the regional final and provincial semis, the Fredericton Black Kats clubbed the Saint John Greyhounds 69-44 as Hitchcock scored 18, Little 14 and Fraser 10. The Black Kats led 28-19 at the half. Gould led the Greyhounds with 12. McGill added 9.
In the regional semis and provincial quarterfinals held in Moncton, the Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans torched the Saint John St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints 89-49 as MacPherson scored 20, LeBlacn 19 and Hachey 16. Mary Beth Taylor led the Saints with 22.
In the other regional semi, the Sussex Sonics clocked the Riverview Royals 78-54 as Poierier scored 28 and Crealock 16. Trisha Cormier led the Royals with 21. Alison Andrews added 18.
In the regional final and provincial semi, the Sussex Sonics clipped the Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans 53-40 as Poirier scored 20 and Crealock 16. LeBlanc led the Trojans with 16. MacPherson added 16.
In the final, the Fredericton Black Kats spanked the Sussex Sonics 66-42 as player of the game Hitchcock scored 26, McEwing 14, Dolan 8, Little 8 and Estabrooks 6, while nabbing 11 boards. The Black Kats led 29-20 at the half. Crealock led the Sonics with 13. Poirier added 10. Sonics coach Peter McAleenan told the Saint John Telegraph-Journal that “when you’re behind by 12, 14 points, it’s hard to keep playing defence because if you let up just a little bit, then you’re behind 16-20.”
