In the final, the top-seeded Fredericton Black Kats defeated the Riverview Royals 64-58 as Ryan scored 15 before dislocating her shoulder in the second half, and Woolaver 14, while nabbing 15 boards. The royals took a 49-46 lead on an O’Connell layup before the Black Kats took command. Woolaver told the Saint John Telegraph-Journal that “at first, our defence was really flat but in the second half, we knew we had to come out strong. It was tough but we pulled through.” Black Kats coach Steve O’Rourke said “when we got into foul trouble, we had to throw our entire game plan out the window. We told the kids our defnece was going to have to keep us in the game and they did. But Riverview played an excellent basketball game. The three players they needed to play well did so. They were well-prepared and they gave us a complete and tough game.” McIntyre led the Royals with 15. Royals coach Bill Davis said “I thought we played really good defence, that we forced them to make turnovers and we converted off those turnovers. But they’re a well-disciplined ball club and they played really tough defence. They mix up their defensive game plan really well and it makes it hard for us to call what we wanted to run.”
