Nancy LeBlanc led the Matadors with 19. Roy added 4, C Leger 1 and L Leger 1, while C LeBanc, Blanchard and Richard were scoreless.
The 2nd-seeded Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans dusted the 7th-seeded Miramichi James M. Hill Tommies 73-27 as Lund scored 17, Stymiest 14, Surrette 11, Rae 8, Allen 6, Keays 6, Cormier 4, Chartley 4, Spear 2 and Robert 1. Sandra Shaw led the Tommies with 10. J Masterson added 6, Dinan 4, Corlett 2, MacCarthy 2, E Masterson 2 and MacDoanld 1, while Leaman was scoreless.
The 3rd-seeded Moncton Purple Knights spanked the 6th-seeded Miramichi Valley Pulamoo 70-45 as Robinson scored 15, Thompson 13, Martin 10, Carey 9, Hicks 7, Irving 6, McNeil 4, Levangie 4 and Lund 2. Alice Kammermans paced the Pulamoo with 20. Henrietta DeWolfe added 12, Hill 5, Woods 4, Black 2 and Furlong 2, while Breneol and Thibodeau were scoreless.
In the last quarterfinal, the 5th-seeded Oromocto Blues clipped the 4th-seeded Saint John Simonds Seabees 56-46 as Power scored 26, Morrissey 10, Sasse 8, C Johnson 6, B Johnson 4 and Curran 2. Monica Hitchcock led the Seabees with 16. Susan Kenny added 15, L Collings 4, M Collings 4, Breen 3, Tracey 2 and Linda Hatchett 2, while Grimmer, O’keefe and Corscadden were scoreless.
In the semis, the top-seeded Fredericton Black Kats stomped the 5th-seeded Oromocto Blues 80-46 as Scholten scored 25, Gammon 19, Maclean 14, Smith 10, Michaud 4, Boldon 2, McSorley 2, Decaire 2 and Ingraham 1. B Johnson led the blues with 15. C Johnson added 8, Morrisey 7, Clayton 6, Sasse 6, Power 2 and Curran 2.
In the other semi, the Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans dispatched the Moncton Purple Knights 63-56 as Stymiest scored 14, Lund 14, Surrette 14, Rae, 6 Keays 6, Allen 4, Ryder 4 and Chartley 1. Robinson led the Purple Knights with 24. Irving added 12, Carey 6, Lund 6, Thompson 5, Hicks 2 and Martin 1.
In the bronze medal match, the 3rd-seeded Moncton Purple Knights defeated the 5th-seeded Oromocto Blues 55-48 as Robinson scored 14, Thompson 12, Carey 9, Hardy 9, Hicks 4, Irving 4 and Martin 3. ‘Donna Sasse led the Blues with 16. B Johnson added 9, Sharon Morrissey 8, Madonna Power 6, C Johnson 4, Clayton 2, Hindson 2 and Curran 1.
In the final, a repeat of the 1975 title bout, the top-seeded Fredericton Black Kats dumped the 2nd-seeded Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans 75-68. Fredericton finished (25-5) on the season. Scholten led the Black Kats with 19. Gammon added 14, Smith 10, Ingraham 10, Maclean 8, Boldodn 6, Dicaire 5, Michaud 4 and Petrie 2. Keays led the Trojans with 19. Lund added 14, Rae 12, Surrette 6, Stymiest 5, Chartley 4, Allen 4 and Cormier 4. The Black Kats hit 16-34 from the line, while the Trojans hit 12-24.
