In the quarterfinals, held in Saint John, the Fredericton Black Kats dispatched the Woodstock Wildcats 37-26 as Johnson scored 16, Reid 11, Corcoran 6, Chevers 2 and Arsenault 2. Elaine Flewelling scored 15 to lead the Wildcats (coach Carolyn Turney, manager Linda Green). Leslie Olmstead added 11, while Cathy Karnes, Jane Jewett, Maureen Craig, Helen Culligan, Susan Patterson, Heather Broad, Carol Ann Cole, Wilson, Chris Wood and Darlene Nason were scoreless.
The Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans nipped Saint John St. Vincent’s Fighting Irish 32-31 as Dale Mitchell hit a hook shot with five seconds to play. Sylvia Smith paced the Trojans with 18. Mitchell added 8 and Sandra Smith 6. Virginia Doucett led the Fighting Irish with 14. Katherine Frauley added 10 and L Armstrong 7, while Robertson, Arseneau, Holding, Murphy, Northrup, Lois O’Neill, Lorraine O’Neill, Alden, McLaughlin, McGrattan and Arseneau were scoreless.
The St. Stephen Spartans dusted the Bathurst Phantoms 47-23 as Farnham scored 25, Holes, 13, Mitchell 5, Lowe 2 and Dougherty 2. Mary Stratton paced the Phantoms with 13. Morrison added 6 and Cumming 4, while Martha Stratton, Bond, B Morrison, Hirston, Branch, Doucette, Glendenning, Knowles and McArtle were scoreless.
In the last quarterfinal, the Saint John Greyhounds pounded the Perth-Andover Southern Victoria Vikettes 50-12 as Nurmi scored 19, Savoy 12, Northrup 12 and Nicolle 2. Moore led the Vikettes with 8. Marsha Hayward added 3 and Inman 1, while Downing, Small, Stiles, Smith, Campbell, Pelrine and Hatheway were scoreless.
In the semis, the Saint John Greyhounds crushed the Fredericton Black Kats 36-14 as Savoy scored 20, Nurmi 9 and Northrup 7. Johnston led the Black Kats with 7. Reid added 4, Corcoran 2 and Cheevers 1.
In the other semi, the Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans dispatched the St. Stephen Spartans 50-43 as Sylvia Smith scored 18, Mitchell 15, Sandra Smith 5 and LeBlanc 2. Lowe led the Spartans with 30. Farnham added 7 and Mitchell 6.
In the bronze medal match, the St. Stephen Spartans clipped the Fredericton Black Kats 45-34 as Lowe scored 18 and Mitchell 17. Pat Johnston led the Black Kats with 15. The Black Kats also included Reid, Corcoran, Chevers, Arsenault, Stiles, Nash, Mclenahan, Worth, Targett, Thorpe and Desormeau.
In the final, the Saint John Greyhounds defeated the Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans 34-32 as Bunni Nurmi scored 17 of her 29 points in the final quarter. Savoy added 10, Northrup 6 and Nicolle 2. Mitchell led the Trojans with 17.
