In the quarterfinals, the St. Stephen Spartans whipped Saint John St. Vincent’s 54-31 as Francis scored 15, S Pomeroy 15, Stuart 10 and Speedy 7. Mary Anne Foley paced St. Vincent’s with 18. Lorraine Fripault added 8 and Mona McLean 5, while Lavina Mary Dineen, Marianne Maxwell, Sharon McManus, Betty McManus, Patsy Swain, Lorane Hughes, Barbara Stone, Audrey Doyle, Margaret McLean, Margaret Breen and Jean Brien were scoreless.
The Minto Memorial Tigers dusted the Saint John Vocational Vultures 50-21 as Hunziker scored 20, Hachey 13, Sullivan 11, L LeBlanc 4 and Landry 2. Rosalie Whitaker led Vocational with 13. Dotherty Harvey added 6 and Mary Doull 2, while Joanne Scovil, Joanne Vaugha, Josephine Sutton, Carolyn Quigg, Rita Frost, Sandra Davis, Winnifred Armstrong, Bonnita Beveridge, Lorraine Andrews, Elizabeth Bannan, Joanne Vaughan, Merien Belyea, Berneate Reid and Patricia Thomas were scoreless.
The Saint John Greyhounds clubbed the Bathurst Phantoms 55-34 as Harvey scored 27, Banks 23, Ely 4 and McGill 1. Betty Glendenning scored 16 to pace the Phantoms (coach Lorne Whalen). Peggy Jean Gammon added 13 and Bonnie Williamson 5, while Gail Jamieson, Joan Woodwide, Donna Comeau, Margaret Ann McKnight, Barbara Lee Dobson, Carolyn McMaster, Katherine McKinnon, Carole Comiskey, Ann Eddy, Christine Bent and Joyce Taylor were scoreless.
In the last quarterfinal, the Campbellton Tigers clocked Sackville 65-26 as H Pietre scored 29, D Allingham 26, L Pietre 5 and Johnson 5. Marilyn Tingley led Sackville with 16. Claire French added 6 and Gloria Lowerson 4, while Anne Harpwood, Helen Wry, Gail Henninger, Carolyn Dixon, Betty Carter, Inez Hains, Barbara Snowdon, Susan Carter and Marion Fawcett were scoreless.
In the Semis, the St. Stephen Sparts clipped the Minto Memorial Tigers 53-43 as S Pomeroy scored 29. Hunziker led the Tigers with 27.
In the other semi, the Saint John Greyhounds clipped the Campbellton Tigers 54-40.
In the final, the St. Stephen Spartans edged the St. John Greyhounds 47-46 as Sandra Pomeroy notched the winning free throw with 15 seconds to play. Pomeroy scored 19, Francis 13, Stuart 13 and Blanchard 2. Ely led the Greyhounds with 19. Banks added 14 and Harvey 13..
