In the quarterfinals, held in Saint John, the St. Stephen Spartans spanked the Rothesay Netherwood Riverhawks 76-35 as Scullion scored 31, S Pomeroy 16, Johnson 12, Blanchard 9, Francis 6 and Peters 2. Judy Cooney led the River Hawks (coach Mary Ellen Driscoll) with 26. Elizabeth Champ added 7 and Becky Schofield 2, while Reid, Jean Eddy, Crosley, Jewett, Philpotts, McFadgen, Gillies, Stokes and Wilson were scoreless.
The Saint John Greyhounds clubbed the Sussex Sonics 58-13 as Banks scored 24, Ely 15, Morrow 20, McCollum 5 and Harvey 4. Jane MacDougald led the Sonics with 7. Crothers added 6, while Jones, McLaughlin, Boomer, Aitken, Bartlett, Wright, Keays, Boyd, MacArthur and Jardine were scoreless.
The Campbellton Tigers crushed the Saint John Simonds Seabees 64-42 as D Allingham scored 40, H Pitre 16, Guimond 7 and Firlotte 1. Forgey led the Seabees with 17. Jean Lizotte added 12, Sears 7, Minert 5 and MacDollum 1, while Horve, Arseneau, Dertin, Bourdreau, Stanton, Olive and Doiron were scoreless.
In the last quarterfinal, the Minto Memorial Tigers stomped the Port Elgin Pirates 65-18 as Harvey scored 20, Trzop 19, Sullivan 13, Gardner 11 and Huniszker 2. Phyllis Jones led the Pirates with 6. Pauley added 5, MacDonald 4 and Spence 3, while M Spence, Fillmore, Goodwin, Prescott and Baughn were scoreless.
In the semis, the St. Stephen Spartans clubbed the Campbellton Tigers 65-42 as S Pomeroy scored 24, Johnson 23, Scullion 12, Stuart 4, Blanchard 2 and Francis 1. D Allingham led the Tigers with 25. Pitre added 9 and Guimond 8.
In the other semi, the Saint John Greyhounds edged the Minto Memorial Tigers 44-43 as Ann Banks notched a pair of critical buckets down the stretch. McCollum paced the Greyhounds with 12. Ely added 13, Banks 12 and Harvey 2. Sullivan led the tigers with 25. Gardner added 13, Hachey 4 and Trzop 1.
In the final, the St. Stephen Spartans wrapped up an undefeated (21-0) season by defeating the Saint John High Greyhounds 51-44 as Sandra Pomeroy scored 26, Scullion 17 and Johnson 8. Banks led the Greyhounds with 29. MacCollum added 14 and Ely 1.
