In the northeast sectional and provincial quarterfinals, the 4th-seeded Fredericton Black Kats stunned the top-seeded host Moncton Bernice MacNaughton Highlanders 95-82. The Highlanders (coached by Nick Earle, assisted by Eric Matheson) included Alex Dool, Mike O’Blenes, Braden Haley, Sam Maillet, Parker McIntyre, Tyler Thorne, Emmanuel Octavious, Brayden Barnes, Patrick McWilliam, Logan Wagner, James French, Sam Moore, Will McNally and Logan MacDougall.
The 3rd-seeded Miramichi Valley Pulamoo whipped the 2nd-seeded Saint John Greyhounds 69-55. The Greyhounds included Rasheed Ali.
In the Southwest sectional, the top-seeded host Fredericton Leo Hayes Lions dispatched the 4th-seeded Riverview Royals 83-76. The Royals (coached by Todd Coleman, assisted by Mike McDougall and Mark McAleese) included Ryan Coleman, Brandon Linthorne, Nathan Rose, Chris Robin, Bill Cole, Devon Leger, Aram Currie, Zach Kenny, Josh Armstrong, Chang Shen, Kyle Rossiter and Tyler Flinn.
In the last quarterfinal, the 3rd-seeded Quispamsis Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders defeated the 2nd-seeded Moncton High Purple Knights 85-73. The Purple Knights (coached by Andrew MacPherson, assisted by Dino DiBonaventura, Matt Kinney and Chris Beck) included Blake Rowe, Ben George, Andrew Estey, Cameron Morley, Noah Tipper, Cameron Wortman, Cameron Fury, Marc Hofer, Chris Cameron-Kogler, John Muhigi, Alex Gallant and Alex Woodford.
In the provincial semis, the 3rd-seeded Miramichi Valley Pulamoo clipped the 4th-seeded Fredericton Black Kats 71-59.
In the other semi, the top-seeded host Fredericton Leo Hayes Lions clubbed the 3rd-seeded Quispamsis Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders 83-69.
In the final, the Miramichi Valley Pulamoo edged the Fredericton Leo Hayes Lions 65-63 as Ian Watters hit a trey with 44.4 seconds to play and then added a free throw to give them a 64-62 lead. Watters then fouled Lion Brett Speedy with 2.6 seconds as he attempted a shot from the arc but Speedy hit just one of three from the line. Watters added a free throw and the lead stood up as Daemon Hemphill’s dramatic three as time expired hit the rim and bounced out. The Lions led 19-16 after one quarter. The Pulamoo led 33-30 at the half and 46-43 after three quarters. Ian Watters paced the Pulamoo with 19 on 8-18 from the floor, 1-4 from the arc, 2-4 from the line, 4 boards and 4 assists. Garret Dickson added 17 on 6-13 from the floor, 0-3 from the arc, 5-7 from the line, 13 boards and 2 assists. Zachery Miersch notched 14 on 4-7 from the floor, 6-10 from the line, 8 boards and 3 assists. Jacob Vickers added 7 on 3-9 from the floor, 0-3 from the arc, 1-4 from the line and 9 boards. Kyron Amos notched 5 on 2-5 from the floor, 1-2 from the arc and 2 boards.
