In the regional semis and provincial quarterfinals held in Fredericton, the Fredericton Black Kats dusted the Bathurst Phantoms 112-62 as Gomez scored 34, Keding 20 and Cotter 17. Jery Gedion (Gideon?) led the Phantoms with 23. Vince Fournier added 14.

       In the other regional semi, the Saint John Greyhounds defeated the Riverview Royals 86-81 as Kierstad scored 23. Troy Killen led the Royals with 18. The Royals also included Wes Hopper.

       In the regional final and provincial semis, the Fredericton Black Kats mauled the Saint John Greyhounds 116-63 as Keding scored 27, Macleod 21 and Gomez 18. Kierstad led the Greyhounds with 14. Peters added 13.

       In the regional semis and provincial quarterfinals held in Moncton, the Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans torched the Saint John Simonds Seabees 86-65 as Johnston scored 27, Somers 24 and Ells 16. Scott Stewart led the Seabees with 15. The Seabees also included Jamie Belyea.

       In the other regional semi, the Saint John St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints clubbed the Moncton Purple Knights 93-69 as King scored 18 and Dobbelsteyn 17. Brad Ross scored 22 to paced the Purple Knights (coach Jennifer George).

       In the regional final and provincial semis, the Saint John St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints defeated the Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans 91-84 as Dobbelsteyn scored 26, Leblanc 25 and player of the game King 23. Somers led the Trojans with 27. Ells added 15.

In the final, the Fredericton Black Kats spanked the Saint John St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints 99-80 as player of the game Gomez scored 27, while nabbing 16 boards, Keding 17, Lawrence 12, Cotter 11, Mcleod 10, Bonnar 9 and Jamieson 8. Fredericton capped a remarkable year in which boy’s-girls double titles were achieved at all three levels of New Brunswick high school competition. They outrebounded the Saints 59-26, led 51-37 at the half and took commanded with 19-0 second half. They led by as many as 35 when Black Kats coach Gary Young emptied his bench. Gomez told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner that “our team just came so tough to start with. St. Mac’s played really well, their intensity was high, they came ready to play. But we just took advantage of some turnovers real quick and we got our baskets. We did what we came here to do.” Young said “it’s convenient to have size but your tall players have to play well and they have to know what they’re doing. I think Danny Gomez knew clearly where the gaps where in their man-to-man defence. He got himself into position to receive passes and then finished very well.” The Black Kats finished (30-3) on the campaign. Leblanc led the Saints with 20. King added 17, Dobbelsteyn 17 and Frank 15.
