In the quarterfinals, the top-seeded Quispamsis Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders stomped the 8th-seeded Saint John Greyhounds 93-30 as Elliott scored 15. Mike Lawton led the Greyhounds with 8. The Greyhounds also included Keith Rourk, Malcolm Beals, Rodney McNutt, Tim Wilton, Joel Irvin, Shawn Galbraith, Chris Duncan.
The 4th-seeded Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans defeated the 5th-seeded Moncton Purple Knights x-x. The Purple Knights included Jeff Leblanc, Keri Ryan, Garrett McKean, Russell Ward, Andrew MacPherson, Tim O’Leary, Bruce Bell, Bruce Noble, Andy Legere.
The 2nd-seeded Sussex Sonics mauled the 7th-seeded Bathurst Phantoms 122-43 as MacQuarrie scored 21. Jason Carroll and Terry Shaw each scored 9 to pace the Phantoms, who also included Bruce Boucher, Colin Brewster, Derek Glazier, Tim O”Connell, Troy Lyons, Darren Goldrup.
In the last quarterfinal, the 3rd-seeded Fredericton Black Kats crushed the 6th-seeded Boiestown Upper Miramichi Regional Boas 117-68 as Sullivan scored 18, Adams 16, Lacey 16 and Hatt 12. Ian Noseworthy led the Boas with 26. The Boas also included Jim Watters, Shawn Walsh, Barry Amos, Ricky Stewart, Mike Veinneau, Mike Ward, Sonny Close.
In the semis, the top-seeded Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders whipped the 4th-seeded Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans 77-40 as Darling scored 22, Moore 14, Elliott 12, Johnston 7, Messer 7, Armstrong 6, Jackson 5 and Jones 4. Doucette led the Trojans with 12. Mowat added 10, Larocque 6, Melanson 6, Cummins 4 and Smith 2.
In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Sussex Sonics clipped the 3rd-seeded Fredericton Black Kats 83-72 as Charters scored 28, Pat Ryan 21, John Ryan 19, MacQuarrie 10, Belding 3 and Haley 2. Sullivan led the Black Kats with 25. Adams added 12, Hatt 10, Lacey 8, McMullin 6, Seagrave 6 and Nair 5.
In the final, the Sussex Sonics clipped the Quispamsis Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders 62-45 as Charters scored 20, Pat Ryan 20, MacQuarrie 7, John Ryan 6, Munroe 5, Belding 2 and Haley 2. The Sonics led 26-18 at the half and effectively controlled the Crusaders in the paint with a zone. Sonics coach Peter McAleenan told the Saint John Telegraph-Journal that “we knew that they were undefeated and we knew we had to play hard. Our defence was just tremendous. The last seven minutes or so the boys could taste it. It was just a year we had some great ballplayers.” McAleenan told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner that “we weren’t intimidated out there.” Elliott led the Crusaders with 17. Moore added 8, Darling 6, Messer 4, Jackson 4, Johnson 4 and Armstrong 2. The Crusaders finished (30-1) on the campaign.
