In the quarterfinals, held in Fredericton, the top-seeded Fredericton Black Kats annihilated the 8th-seeded Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans 119-42 as Howlett scored 24, Lakes 18, Hayward 17, McGinn 16, Goovic 12, Hanley 10, Hornibrook 9, Murphy 6, Gillespie 3, Baird 2 and O’Connor 2. Regan Steeves led the Trojans with 16. Tony Matthews added 4, A Dobson 4, R Sobey 4, T MacKillop 4, Dan Forbes 2, Chris Wilbur 2 and D Campbell 2, while David Carter, P Robichaud and J McNally were scoreless.

       The 2nd-seeded Miramichi James M. Hill Tommies whipped the 7th-seeded Oromocto Blues 73-47 as Corlette scored 30, Langille 16, Fitzpatrick 10, Savard 6, Miller 4, Sweeney 2, G Lynch 2, Barrieau 2 and B Lynch 1. The Tommies led 32-20 at the half. Bob Russell led the Blues with 16. W Higgins added 14, Mark Ripley 8, D Evans 6, Colin Allison 5 and B Moulton 3, while D Anthony and J Miller were scoreless.

       The 3rd-seeded Moncton Purple Knights whipped the 6th-seeded Saint John Greyhounds 60-43 as McDonald scored 12, Connor 12, Greg Hebert 11, Wood 10, Crowthers 7 and Hicks 2. Peter McMaster led the Greyhounds with 19. Jim Raymond added 10, Steve Coleman 10, Harold Tesink 2 and M Gallant 2, while W MacFarlane, D Miller and M Cole were scoreless.

       In the last quarterfinal, the 5th-seeded Saint John Milledgeville North Stars nipped the Quispamsis Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders 69-68 in overtime as Scott scored 16, Chase 16, Parker 10, Horgan 10, Savoy 9 and Smith 8. The Stars led 32-21 at the half. Tim Kneeland scored 18 to pace the Crusaders (coach Peter Corby, manager Ed McLean, manager Ken Darling). Jon Maddocks added 18, Kirk Miller 13, Steve (Stewart?) In the semis, the top-seeded Fredericton Black kats clocked the 5th-seeded Saint John Milledgeville North Stars 8-43 as Howlett scored 25, Lakes 21, Gillespie 13, Hayward 6, Morris 5, Goobic 4, McGinn 4 and Hornibrook 2. Parker led the Stars with 18. Scott added 11, Keleher 5, Chase 2, Jackson 2 and Delanney 2.

In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Moncton Purple Knights nipped the 2nd-seeded Miramichi James M. Hill Tommies 51-49 as Wood scored 12, Gerry Hebert 10, Macdonald 9, Hicks 6, Crowthers 6, Mcleod 2 and Conner 2. The Purple Knights led 24-23 at the half. Corlette paced the Tommies with 16. Langille adde 16, Fitzpatrick 6, Sweeney 6 and Miller 2.

In the bronze medal match, the 2nd-seeded Miramichi James M. Hill Tommies clipped the 5th-seeded Saint John Milledgeville North Stars 60-51 as Corlette scored 29 and Langille 10. Malcolm Scott led the Stars with 14. Mike Chase added 12 and Kendall Parker 11. The Stars also included Mike Savoy, Paul Horgan, S Smith, P Kelehar, P Jackson and O Dellaney.

       In the final, the top-seeded Fredericton Black Kats stomped the 3rd-seeded Moncton Purple Knights 107-60 as Gillespie scored a career high 32, Lakes 24, Hayward 23, McGinn 12, Howlett 10, Murphy 2, Morris 2 and Goobic 2. Gillespie told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner that “this win is a lot sweeter than last year. It’s your senior year and when you graduate, you want to go out winning.” Black Kats coach Rick Cotter said “we had a really good first half and in the second half toward the end of the game, we started thinking too much about offence than taking care of the defence but I think the kids knew that they had the ball game won.” The Black Kats finished (19-0) against provincial competition. They hit 27-40 from the line. McDonald led the Purple Knights with 18. Conor added 15, Theobold 13, Crowther 12, McLeod 6, Hebert 6, Lekas 4 and Bavis 2. The Purple Knights hit 8-15 from the line.
