In the quarterfinals, held in Oromocto, the 6th-seeded Miramichi James M. Hill Tommies knocked off the perennial power and 3rd-seeded Fredericton Black Kats, who has at least the final in each of the past 10 years, 61-55. Corlette led the Tommies with 30. Kerr added 18, Rainsborough 5, Plante 4, Philpott 2 and Baldwin 2. Paul Duvel scored 21 to pace the Black Kats (coach Rick Cotter). Mike Cunnane 12, Jamie Cunnane, 8, Brian Carty 6, Terry Adair 6 and Kevin White 2, while Jeff Howlett, Walker, Staples and Banks were scoreless.

       The 2nd-seeded Saint John Greyhounds spanked the 7th-seeded Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans 83-62 as R Ferris scored 22, Janes 20, K Nowlan 16, Aves 12, Scott 9 and Graham 8. Alan Abbass led the Trojans with 31. Greg McNally added 18, Brian Babineau 7, Steve Kerwin (Curwin?) 4 and Mike Campbell 2.

       The 4th-seeded Oromocto Blues crushed the 5th-seeded Moncton Purple Knights 82-57 as McDougall scored 25, S Horsman 21, Blackmore 14, J Horsman 10, Kilbride 8, Vincent 2 and Sexton 2. Derrick Stenhouse paced the Purple Knights with 20. Dave Logan added 15, Kevin Mollins 10, Steve Lebans 4, Peter Donohue 4, Dave Goguen 4 and Mark Reid 2, while Dave Logan, Walchuk, McNeill, Guitard and MacFarlane were scoreless.

       In the last quarterfinal, the top-seeded Quispamsis Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders spanked the 8th-seeded Saint John Vocational Jets (formerly the Vultures) 97-70 as Armstrong scored 35, Mayberry 26, Marley 13, McGee 12, Foley 9 and Nowlan 2. Bryan Kilmartin led the Jets with 23. Karl Jackson (Kackson?) added 20, Barry Eatmon 15 and Larry Gordon 12, while Crothers was scoreless.

       In the semis, the 2nd-seeded Saint John Greyhounds crushed the Miramichi James M. Hill Tommies 101-62 as Janes scored 23, Aves 18, K Nowlan 17, Scott 15, Graham 13, Ferris 10, P Nowlan 2 and Murphy 2. Corlette led the Tommies with 14. Kevin Kerr and Dave Plante each added 12, Wilston 6, Wilt 4, Rainsborough 4, Philpott 2, Keer 2 and Baldwin 2. Saint John led 52-34 at the half. Saint John shot 19-27 from the line, while committing 13 fouls. James M. Hill shot 4-7 from the line while committing 22 fouls

       In the other semi, the 4th-seeded Oromocto High Blues upset the top-seeded Quispamsis Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders 66-52. S Horsman led the Blues with 17. Whynott added 17, Blackmore 11, J Horsman 10, Macdougall 10 and Kilbride 6. Oromocto led 31-24 at the half. Chris Magee paced the Crusaders with 16. Armstrong added 12, Thorne 6, Foley 6, Marley 6, Mayberry 4 and Nowlan 2. Oromocto hit 6-19 from the line and committed 17 fouls. The Crusaders hit 4-8 from the line and committed 18 fouls.

       In the bronze medal match, the top-seeded Quispamsis Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders torched the 6th-seeded Miramichi James M. Hill Tommies 98-54 as Magee scored 20 M Armstrong 17, Thorne 13, Nowlan 8, Foley 6, Mayberry 5, Miller 5, Henry 4 and B Armstrong 4. Dave Plante led the Tommies with 16. Rob Corlette added 14, Kevin Kerr 8, Hasley Wilston 4, John Philpott 4, Frank Wilt 4, Brian Rainsborough 2 and Blakely 2. The Tommies also included Steve Baldwin, Al Keer.

       In the final, the Saint John Greyhounds edged the Oromocto High Blues 68-66. The Greyhounds avenged two regular season defeats in capturing the crown. Saint John never trailed and led by as many as 11. The Greyhounds were ahead 39-31 at the half but the Blues trimmed it to 64-62 with three minutes to play. Ferris led Saint John with 19. Aves added 17, Scott 12, Janes 8, Nowlan 8 and Graham 4. MacDougall led Oromocto with 22. Blackmore added 18, S Horseman 10, Whynot 8, J Horsman 4 and Kilbride 4. Saint John hit 8-12 from the line and committed 15 fouls. Oromocto hit 2-9 from the line and committed 14 fouls.
