In the quarterfinals, held in Fredericton, the top-seeded Moncton Purple Knights received a bye.

       The 2nd-seeded Fredericton Black Kats stomped the 7th-seeded Saint John Simonds Seabees 62-19 as Clark scored 10, Dolan 8, Whalen 8, Redi 8, Florean 7, Dobbelsteyn 6, Legere 6, Grimmer 4, Delon 2, McNeil 2 and Howatt 1. Wayne Crawford scored 8 to pace the Seabees (coach Mike Harley). Crowell added 6, Forbes 3 and Nobles 2, while Tracy and Wilson were scoreless.

       The 4th-seeded Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans nipped the 5th-seeded Miramichi James M. Hill Tommies 50-49 as Nichols notched the winner with 49 seconds to play. McPhee led the Trojans with 18. Fowler added 11, McNally 10, Nichols 6 and McCollum 4. Darrell Lisson scored 19 to pace the Tommies (coach Bob Corlett). Joe Brennan added 12, LeCoue4 8, Kerr 8 and Fraser 2, while A Hachey and Daley were scoreless. The Tommies led 31-28 at the half.

       In the last quarterfinal, the 3rd-seeded St. Stephen Spartans clubbed the 6th-seeded Oromocto Blues 77-39 as Ingram scored 28, Hanson 18, M McGeachey 9, Watkins 8, Madsen 5, S McGeachy 4, Fagan 2, McGinley 2, Higgins 1 and Nicholson 1. Spartans coach Peter Corby told the Saint John Telegraph-Journal that “the only reason we won by so much was because of Oromocoto. Oromocto lacks fundamentsl. We played poorly but we’re fundamentally stronger on rebounding, passing and shooting.” Graham Hillier led the Blues with 8. M Forsythe added 6, MacDonald 6, Gather 5, Phillips 4, Ready 4, Chisholm 2, Rogers 2 and T Forsythe 2, while Guthro was scoreless.

In the semis, the 2nd-seeded Fredericton Black Kats defeated the 3rd-seeded St. Stephen Spartans 43-39 as Florean scored 212, MacNeil 10, Delong 6, Howatt 4 and Dobbelsteyn 2. Black Kats coach Rick Cotter told the Saint John Telegraph- Journal that “St. Stephen as nothing to be ashamed of. It’s too bad somebody had to lose.” Florean tied the game at 33. Howatt added a layup as Fredericton built its lead to 39-33. Dobbelsteyn iced it with a pair from the line. Ingram led the Spartans with 10. Hanson added 10, McGeachy 9, Watkins 8 and Fagan 2. Spartans coach Peter Corby said “we were beaten by a better team. It could’ve gone either way.” The Spartans led 11-10, 26-21 and 33-31 at the quarters.

In the other semi, the top-seeded Moncton Purple Knights defeated the 4th-seeded Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans 52-32 as Bohan scored 26 on 14-14 from the line. Sullivan added 8, McConnell 6, Miller 6, Kelly 5 and Branscombe 2. MacPhee led the Trojans with 13. McNally added 8, McCullum 4, Fowler 4, Nichols 2 and Hearns 1.

In the bronze medal match, the 4th-seeded Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans edged the 3rd-seeded St. Stephen Spartans 66-63 as McPhee scored 17, McNally 17, Nichols 15, Fowler 22 and McCallum 6. Tim Ingram scored 19 to pace the Spartans (coach Peter Corby). Fred Watkins added 16, Everett Hanson 13, M McGeachy 13 and Madsen 2, while Fagan, S McGeachy, McGinley, Higgins and Nicholson were scoreless.

       In the final, the 2nd-seeded Fredericton Black Kats defeated the top-seeded Moncton Purple Knights 44-34 as Florean scored 14, Macneil 13, Dobbelsteyn 6, Howatt 5, Dolan 2, Whelan 2 and Delong 2. Black Kats coach Rick Cotter told the Saint John Telegraph-Journal that “we beat one hell of a club and with a few breaks, it could have gone either way. … We got the key Foul shots when we needed them.” Florean said “we had a few problems like when they hit a few key baskets in the third quarter to narrow our lead. But we kept our cool.” The Black Kats finished (24-8) on the season. Bohan led the Purple Knights with 11. Shea added 7, Sullivan 6, Miller 4, McConnell 3, Surrette 2 and Kelly 1. Purple Knights coach Greg Gould lamented ‘shooting cold and we could have rebounded better.”
