Before the season, New Brunswick revises its eligibility rules to allow for four years of play, instead of three.

In the quarterfinals, held in Fredericton, the St. Stephen Spartans nipped Moncton Vanier 61-60 as McLeod scored 16, Wood 15, White 11, A Greenlaw 22 and Kennedy 8. Ralph Melanson paced Vanier with 25. Len Goguen added 16, Ron Daigle 11, Charlie Bourque 6 and LeBlanc 2, while Laurie Ouellette, Gaudet, Mazerolle and Pererra were scoreless.

       The top-seeded Saint John St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints clubbed the 8th-seeded Sunny Corner North & South Esk Cobras 48-17 as Butler scored 10, MacPherson 9, Barry 9, Robertson 9, Doherty 4, Lynch 3, Sheehan 2 and Breen 2. Keith Taylor led the Cobras with 11. Jim Travis added 4 and Kingston 2, while Sherrard, Jack Travis, Silliker, Young, Sommers, Mathews and Matchett were scoreless.

       The Rothesay Regional Red Hawks crushed the Sackville Kingfishers 63-41 as Wallace scored 16, G Budreski 14, Moore 12, Brown 9, Carson 4, Estey 4, Brewster 2 and T Budreski 2. Ron White led the Kingfishers with 16. Jim McAuley added 10, Duane Estabrooks 8, Cole 3, Rick Anderson 2 and Foster 2, while Dana Estabrooks, Donald, Read, Bourne and Austin were scoreless.

       In the last quarterfinal, the Fredericton Black Kats mauled the Perth-Andover Southern Victoria Vikings 56-34 as Arnold scored 18, McMullin 14, Holland 11, Reid 7, Pike 2, B Slipp 2 and D Slipp 2. Terry Clark paced the Vikings with 14. Heirick Hansen added 6, Leslie Smith 6, Pat Tucker 4 and Tom Baird 4, while McAllister, Bade Garnett, David Pirie, Francis Baker, Danny Shaw, Mark James, John McLure, Brian Young and Doug Nickerson were scoreless.

       In the semis, the top-seeded Saint John St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints clipped the St. Stephen Spartans 41-27 as Robertson scored 12, Barry 11, Lynch 9, Doherty 6, MacPherson 2 and Breen 1. Kennedy led the Spartans with 13. Mcleod added 6, A Greenlaw 3, White 3 and Buchanan 2.

       In the other semi, the Rothesay Regional Red Hawks dispatched the Fredericton Black Kats 51-42 as Wallace scored 21, Moore 17, Carosn 9 and Brown 4. McMullin led the Black Kats with 13. Holland added 10, Reid 9, Doran 4, Pike 2 and B Slipp 2.

       In the bronze medal match, the Fredericton Black Kats whipped the St. Stephen Spartans 44-28 as Reid scored 14. Jeff McLeod paced the Spartans with 8. The Spartans (coach Paul DeWolfe) also include Bev Greenlaw, Pete Kennedy, Dave Wood, Randy White, Austin Greenlaw, Robinson, Brewer, Tom Egan, John Davidson and John Buchanan.

In the final, the Rothesay Regional Red Hawks defeated the top-seeded Saint John St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints 57-55 in overtime as Carson scored 16, Budreski 11 and Moore 11. It was the Red Hawks first year of competition at the L (AAA) level. Carson forced overtime with a pair of free throws to knot the score at 51 with 12 seconds to play. Barry led the Saints with 18. Robertson added 10.
