In the quarterfinals, the Saint John St. Malachy’s Saints received a bye.
The Fredericton Black Kats clubbed the Saint John Simonds Seabees 70-46 as Fairweather scored 23, Bamford 15, Morgan 11, D Petrie 9, Van Wart 8 G Petrie 2 and Hashey 2. Bob Fulton scored 15 to pace the Seabees (coach Art Pottle). Ginger Smith added 12, Bud Brown 7, King 4, Ferdie Forgey 2 and Messer 2, while D Smith, McLennan and Clarke were scoreless, while two points were scored by the Black Kats.
The St. Stephen Spartans torched the Moncton Purple Knights 7-43 as Gardelon scored 20, Halstead 18, McKay 10, Pierce 9, McHugh 4, Manuel 4, Kelly 3 and McIntee 2. Allan Charters paced the Purple Knights with 19. Norm Eustache added 8, Bob Broley 4, Frank Powers 4, B Radford 2, Edward Fudge 2 and Richard Rice 2, while Colpitts, Taylor, A Currie and R Robert were scoreless.
In the last quarterfinal, the Minto Regional Tigers clocked the Campbellton Tigers 68-22 as Brogan scored 24, Thompson 13, Clarke 12, Sullivan 8, Johnston 6 and Benson 5. Bob Brown led the Tigers with 10. Boyd Poley added 4, Osgood 2, MacNeish 2, Madsen 2, Busteed 1 and W Thompson 1, while Don Munroe, J Sullivan and Roussie were scoreless.
In the semis, the Saint John Saint Malachy’s Saints crushed the St. Stephen Spartans 70-50 as Pierce scored 37, Murphy 13, Richard 110, Gillen 8 and Goguen 2. Garcelon paced the Spartans with 16. McHugh added 16, Holstead 7, McIntee 4 and Pierce 2.
In the other semi, the Fredericton Black Kats mauled the Minto Memorial Tigers 63-45 as Morgan scored 23, Fairweather 17, Bamford 8, Hashey 8 and D Petrie 7. Sullivan led the Tigers with 14. Thompson added 9, Clark 9, Benson 7 and Brogan 6.
In the final, the Fredericton Black Kats defeated the St. John St. Malachy’s Saints as Morgan scored 19, Fairweather 15, Bamford 13, D Petrie 6, and Hashey 4. Pierce led St. Malachy’s with 27. Murphy added 6, Murray 4, Richad 2 and Simon 1.
