In the quarterfinals, held in Fredericton, the Edmunston Cormier Cougars edged the Saint John St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints 57-53 as Emond scored 17, Theriault 17, Tobin 9, LeBlanc 8, Wetmore 4 and Tripp 2. Dick Murphy led the Saints with 16. John Osborne added 11, Hickey 10, Tom Gillen 10, Simon 4 and Richard 2, while McGrath, Murray, Goguen and Finley were scoreless.
The Saint John Simonds Seabees clipped the Fredericton Black Kats 44-34 as Fulton scored 13, Smith 11, Messer 10, McKinley 5 and King 2. Ron Manzer led the Black Kats with 15. Morgan added 9, Hickey 7, Petrie 2 and Bagley 1, while Duplisea, Van Wart, Ward, Gorham and Vaughan were scoreless.
The Minto Regional Tigers torched the Bathurst Phantoms 45-19 as Brogan scored 12, Hawkes 9, Clark 9, Sullivan 8, Carey 4, Benson 2 and Delorey 1. Matheson paced the Phantoms with 9. Samson added 5, Hills 4 and Fleigher 1, while Jamieson, Kamermans, Scott and Johnson were scoreless.
In the last quarterfinal, the St. Stephen Spartans dispatched Chatham St. Thomas Academy 52-46 as Davidson scored 14, Garcelon 14, Cook 8, Pierce 7, McKay 6 and McHugh 3. Walter ‘Bubsy’ Mills led St. Thomas with 13. Bernie Wheaton added 9, Sonny Galliah 8 and Preston 6, while McGarrigle, Nicholas, Horgan, Quigley, Hachey, Young and Joe Desmond were scoreless.
In the semis, the Saint John Simonds Seabees whipped the Edmundston Cormier Cougars 49-30 as Fulton scored 24, Smith 13, King 5, Messer 2, McKinley 2, D Brown 2 and B Brown 1. LeBlanc led the Cougars with 18. Emond added 8, Therrieaut (Therrieau?) 2 and Wetmore 2.
In the other semi, the Minto Regional Tigers torched the St. Stephen Spartans 49-30 as Brogan scored 17, Hawkes 12, Benson 9, Sullivan 8 and Clark 2. Garcelon led the Spartans with 12. Cook added 8, Davidson 6, Pierce 2, Halstead 1 and McKay 1.
In the final, the Saint John Simonds Seabees defeated the Minto Memorial Tigers 41-34 as Bob Fulton scored 20, Smith 8, McKinley 7, Messer 3, King 2 and Forgey 1. Brogan led the Tigers with 11. Sullivan added 10, Hawkes 6, Clark 6 and Benson 1.
