        In the other semi, the Grand Falls John Caldwell Lakers whipped the Petitcodiac Regional Panthers 89-49.

        In the final, the Grand Falls John Caldwell Lakers crushed the Hillsborough Caledonia Regional Tigers 69-42 after leading 18-14, 33-21 and 52-32 at the quarters. “We’ve been together since kindergarten,” Laker Vanessa Dufresne told the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal. “Most of us have been together since mini-ball. We’re all good friends and winning feels so much better knowing that we are all so close. I’m just proud of my team.” The Tigers took an early 5-0 lead before Alannah Hansen got the Lakers on the board with a trey. “The nerves were there in the first quarter,” Knights coach Mike Beaulieu said. “Usually, we don’t foul as much, but we had a lot of players with two fouls. The girls kept playing as a team and they stepped up in the second half.” They quickly settled down and were never threatened. “I’ve always told my girls if you’re open for the shot, take it,” Beaulieu said. “We have rebounders and (shooting a lot) paid off today. … I’ve had these girls since Grade 5. It’s a great group.” John Caldwell started the third quarter with a 13-0 run to ice the victory. They led by as many as 20. “It got tough, but they were on and there’s not much you can do about that,” said Tiger guard Emma Wissink. “This is our second year in a row coming and it’s been an amazing experience.” Vanessa Dufresne paced the Lakers with 16 on 6-11 from the floor, 2-4 from the arc, 2-2 from the line and 7 boards.
