In the final, the Harvey Lakers defeated the Stanley Regional Blue Devils 60-51. Amanda Wood and Courtney MacLean staked the Lakers to a 30-25 lead at the half. Wood was chosen player of the game after scoring 18. Michelle McDade added 13, including the Lakers final 6 points after the Blue Devils had trimmed the deficit to six. MacLean added 11, including a trio from beyond the arc, Jennifer Little 9 and Kelly Watson 7. Wood told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner that “we seemed to make it a little harder on ourselves. But they were a great opponent and it was really fun to play against them. It’s scary out there at first, with so many people. But it’s an all-round adrenalin boost too. I think it might be a little harder on the fans to not be able to come out and help us.” Vicky Anderson led the Blue Devils with 22. Sarah Hayes added 7, Bethany Ryan 6, Janie Everett 6 and Sarah Hay 6. The Blue Devils led 13-4 early, but the Lakers rallied to a 47-37 lead with 11 minutes to play. The Blue Devils answered with a 7-0 run but the Lakers pulled away down the stretch. “Our shots were off the last five minutes,” Anderson said. “We never realized they had such good outside shooters. It’s always been McDade or whoever inside. … They beat us by 40 and 30 points earlier, so I think losing by only nine is really good for us.” Wood said “it was a lot tougher than we expected. They’ve improved tremendously since those earlier games. I was a little scared early on, but I knew we weren’t playing our game and we just had to get back into the swing of things.” McDade said “Amanda played the best game I’ve seen her play all season, which was great. We needed people to step up.” The Lakers finished (34-9) on the campaign.
