In the semis, the Hartland Huskies defeated the Harvey Lakers 94-71. The Lakers led 37-36 at the half.

In the other semi, the Grand Manan Breakers defeated the Grand Falls John Caldwell Golden Knights 85-63 as Peter Allaby scored 19, Daniel Frost 17, Robbie Russell 17, Tim Wetzel 15 and Nigel Russell 13. In the final, the Hartland Huskies defeated the Grand Manan Breakers 93-86 as 6-5 centre Greg Albright scored 41 and nabbed 16 boards. “We got some key rebounds at the defensive end and capitalized on the offensive end,” Albright told the New Brunswick Telegraph Journal. “We got some key hoops, some key rebounds and put them back in. It was a team effort and a great job by all the guys.” Sean O’Brien added 19 and Joel Kennedy 13. Albright “wanted to put the whole package together and play it tonight. Truth be told, we needed him to do that tonight,” said Hartland coach Randy Field. “Grand Manan keeps coming at you and coming at you and coming at you. They are like that Energizer bunny. That is the most heart I have seen Greg Albright play with. Any sporting event has to be played with heart, passion and desire.” Albright and Grand Manan star Robbie Russell staged a shootout. Albright stole the spotlight with 18 points in the first half, 23 more in the second period, and 16 rebounds. “I felt a couple of tingles there,” admitted Albright. “I had the ball a lot, had open shots and I guess I hit them. I am always nervous coming into a big game like this. It’s all right to be nervous. They say you play better when you are nervous.” Not only did Albright control the boards, but he connected for 14 points in a 23-13 run with 10 minutes left. Russell, who scored 31, called Albright “an all-around player. He can jump, he can shoot, he can drive, he can rebound. We tried and did what we could do. There isn’t much more you can do.” In a game of runs, Grand Manan broke away first, inching ahead 21-14 after seven minutes, only to have Hartland tie it on Adam Gulliver’s basket with 9:18 left. Again, Grand Manan sprinted away, leading 41-33 with three minutes left in the half before Hartland rallied to go ahead 50-49 with 16:13 left in the game. There were three lead changes and four ties before Albright fired on all cylinders in the clutch. Adam Gulliver noted 17 for Grand Manan. “We are satisfied,” Russell said. “We tried what we could do. We didn’t make a lot of mistakes or screw up much.”
