In the regional semis and provincial quarterfinals held in Hartland, the Campobello Island Consolidated Vikings crushed the Petitcodiac Regional Panthers 85-51 as Chut scored 24 and Matthews 22. Jamie Ogilvie led the Panthers with 18. The Panthers also included Neil Harvey.
In the other regional semis, the Hartland Huskies spanked the Sunny Corner North & South Esk Cobras 125-67 as Dickinson scored 25, Albright 21 and P Appleby 18. The Huskies led 67-38 at the half. Adam Sheasgreen led the Cobras with 21. James Whitney added 18.
In the regional final and provincial semis, the Hartland Huskies clocked the Campobello Island Consolidated Vikings 96-66 as Appleby scored 24, Albright 22 and Dickinson 20. Chute led the Vikings with 21.
In the regional semis and provincial quarterfinals held in Stanley, the Grand Manan Breakers clipped the Boiestown Upper Miramichi Regional Boas 77-70 as Frost scored 16 and Cronk 15. Ellis Ross led the Boas with 33.
In the other regional semi, the Stanley Blue Devils clipped the Fredericton Devon Park Christian Eagles 77-67 as Gallagher scored 38 and Ryan 24. Paul Little led the Eagles with 19.
In the regional final and provincial semis, the Stanley Blue Devils whipped the Grand Manan Breakers 75-49 as Gallagher scored 27, Suttie 20 and Ryan 12. N Russell led the Breakers with 15. Frost added 12.
In the final, the Hartland Huskies clocked the Stanley Blue Devils 88-56 as Albright scored 23, O’Brien 119, while nabbing 10 boards, Appleby 18 and Kennedy 10, while nabbing 13 boards. The Huskies led 44-29 at the half in capturing their second consecutive title and finishing the season with a (37-6) record. Albright told the Saint John Telegraph-Journal that “we tried to run them. They didn’t want a fast game and we did. That’s what we got. … I tried to hassle (Gallagher) as much as possible. But I got a couple of pretty cheap fouls and couldn’t pressure him as much as I’d hoped.” Huskies coach David Forrest said “we were expected to win this basketball game and that makes it tough. When you’re the defending champ and everybody tell you that you are 30 points better than the other team, and it comes down to one game, there’s a lot of pressure on you. … Said going into this game that Mike Gallagher would give us some trouble and he did. We had to concede him 30 but I didn’t think he had it took to beat five or six guys.” Gallagher led the Blue Devils with 36, while nabbing 14 boards.
