In the quarterfinals, the top-seeded Petitcodiac Regional Panthers clocked the 8th-seeded Boiestown Upper Miramichi Boas 90-60 as Perry scored 21, Brubaker 18, Bourque 18, Flemming 14, Carter 11, Murphy 6 and Patterson 2. Mark Astle led the Boas with 18. Perley Tracey-Gould added 16, Jason Munn 14, Dean Shannon 4, Travis Hovey 4, Bradley Pond 2 and Jason Swazey 2, while Lewis Muir was scoreless.
The 4th-seeded Sunny Corner North & South Esk Cobras dispatched the 5th-seeded Campobello Island Consolidated Vikings x-x. The Vikings included Richard Brown, Tom Mallock, Jay Hooper, Jason Cook, Ron Savage, Trevor Chute, Matthew Murray, Russell Savage, Vance Fitzsimmons, Scott Fletcher.
The 2nd-seeded Harvey Lakers clubbed the 7th-seeded Canterbury Celtics 79-60 as Campbell scored 14, Swan 12, Scott 10, Saunder 20 and Maclean 10. Darren Horsman led the Celtics with 36. The Celtics also included Lance Graham, Scotty Scott, Glendon Luimes, Derrick Horsman, Wayne Rees, Ian Leeman.
In the last quarterfinal, the 3rd-seeded Grand Falls John Caldwell Golden Knights spanked the 6th-seeded Grand Manan Breakers 91-74 as McCarthy scored 23 and David McClure 13. Jeremy Lyons led the Breakers with 30. Sean Bass added 18. The Breakers also included Gary Dawkin (Dakin?), Jason Temple, Mike Ingalls, Adam Brown, Mike Bagley.
In the semis, the 2nd-seeded Harvey Lakers clipped the 3rd-seeded Grand Falls John Caldwell Golden Knights 66-56 as Scot scored 21, while nabbing 25 boards, Campbell 14, Saunders 11, C Mclean 6, Swan 8 and D Mclean 2. McCarthy led the Golden Knights with 16. L McLure added 13, Gallagher 10, D McClure 8, Perley 6 and Pelletier 3.
In the other semi, the top-seeded Petitcodiac Regional Panthers spanked the 4th-seeded Sunny Corner North & South Esk Cobras 81-48 as Bourque scored 16, Brubacher 13, Murphy 10, Perry 10, Fleming 8, Gillies 8, Patterson 6, Alward 6 and Carter 4. Taylor led the Cobras with 14. Allain added 13, Somers 12, Schenkles 5 and Mullin 4.
In the final, the top-seeded Petitcodiac Regional Panthers captured their third consecutive title by spanking the 2nd-seeded Harvey Lakers 77-62 as Perry scored 20, Bourque 16, Brubacher 12, Fleming 8, Murphy 8, Carter 8, Alward 2, Smith 2 and Garnett 1. Perry told the Saint John Telegraph-Journal that “we played well. We’ve been having trouble with turnovers lately and we took care of that today. We shot well from outside and played well defensively.” He told the Fredericton Daily Glean that “I didn’t get to play provincials (a year earlier) because I had broken my ankle and so I was really looking forward to this year’s final.” Panthers coach Ron Hooper told the Saint John Telegraph-Journal that “we lost a lot of talent from last year’s club. It was bit an incentive for the boys. This year’s team had a lot of balance.” The Panthers led 40-28 at the half and 18-23 from the line. McLean paced the Lakers with 16. McLean added 10, Campbell 10, Swan 10, Scott 7, Saunders 6, Messer 2 and Watson 1. The Lakers hit 9-24 from the line. Lakers coach Dave McMullin told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner that “we didn’t the ball quite well enough. I guess the size of the court – university as opposed to high school length – was one of the factors. We didn’t handle the 94-feet as well as we should have. Our court’s about 78 feet and an extra 16-feet makes quite a difference.”
