In the quarterfinals, held in Fredericton, the 2nd-seeded Grand Manan Breakers defeated the 7th-seeded Sunny Corner North & South Esk Cobras 64-58 as Johnson scored 45. The Breakers led 38-32 at the half.
The 3rd-seeded Petitcodiac Panthers spanked the 6th-seeded Canterbury Celtics 76-53 as MacDonald scored 17 and Tingley 12. Cary Grant led the Trojans with 17. Randy Murchland added 12. The Trojans also included Stan English, Tor Conklin.
Black’s Harbour spanked the Perth-Andover Southern Victoria Vikings 76 to 57 as Spires scored 20 and Clinch 14. Black’s Harbour led 43-15 at the half. Philip Savaxy led the Vikings with 20. Mark Crawford added 16. The Vikings also included Dan Violette, Peter McAllister.
In the last quarterfinal, the top-seeded Campobello Island Consolidated Vikings dusted the 8th-seeded Stanley Blue Devil 93-43 as Ritchie Lahey scored 20, Kerry Newman 16 and K Mitchell 11. Mike (Rob?0 Gallagher led the Blues Devils with 12. Dale MacFarlane added 12.
In the semis, the top-seeded Campobello Island Consolidated Vikings nipped Black’s Harbour 66-64 in overtime as Rod Lahey scored 24, Matthews 16, Rick Lahey 10 and Newman 10. Mahar led Black’s Harbour with 20. Spiers added 16 and Clinch 11.
In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Petitcodiac Regional Panthers dispatched the 2nd-seeded Grand Manan Breakers 68-58 as MacPherson scored 25 and MacDonald 14. The Panthers led 33-28 at the half. Johnson led the Breakers with 32.
In the final, the top-seeded Campobello Island Consolidated Vikings repeated as titlist dispatching the 3rd-seeded Petitcodiac Regional Panthers 82-76 as Ritchie Lahey scored 29, Kerry Newman 15, Merrill Matthews 14, Greg Mitchell 12 and Rod Lahey 12. Vikings coach Tom Hendershot told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner that “I had nine boys back from last year so I knew we the nucleus there right from the start of the season. … Ritchie (Lahey) has played very well for us all season. Friday night, Ritchie frayed a plastic tendon in his shooting hand (he had his real ones replaced the previous May) but he played anyway Saturday night … Newman is the guy I look to get smoothness into the offence and defence. If I say something to him, he’ll get it done and pass it on to the other guys. … We stuck to a full-cour tpress and that won it for us.” The Vikings finished (23-6) on the campaign. MacPherson led the Panthers with 39. Harvey added 17.
