In the regional semis and provincial quarterfinals held in Woodstock, the host Woodstock Wildcats mauled the St. George Fundy Mariners 96-23 as Suzanne Higgs scored 20 and Sharolyn Higgs 16. Kelly Norman led the Mariners with 10.
In the other regional semi, the St. Stephen Spartans defeated the Campbellton Sugarloaf Bruins 52-44 as Sullivan scored 16 and Horne 16. Fausta Charlong led the Bruins with 15. Meredith Logan added 14. The Bruins also included Amie Logg.
In the regional final and provincial semis, the Woodstock Wildcats dispatched the St. Stephen Spartsns 66-57 as McCue scored 26, McMillan 14 and Higgs 14. The Wildcats led 39-35 at the half. Horne led the Spartans with 14. Arsenault added 12.
In the regional semis and provincial quarterfinals held in Sackville, the Lawrencevile-Bristol Carleton North Stars spanked the Hampton Huskies 83-37 as McIsaac scored 19. Carrie Sutton led the Huskies with 11.
In the other regional semis, the Sackville Tantramar Titans clocked the Perth-Andover Southern Victoria Vikings 67-47 as Box scored 26, Porter 9 and Lafford 9. Kristen Moore scored 30 to lead the Vikings (coach Michael Morris). Miranda Hathaway added 10.
In the regional final and provincial semis, the Lawrenceville-Bristol Carleton North Stars edged the Sackville Tantramar Titans 64-61 as McIsaac scored 18 and Williams 14. Box led the Titans with 28. Lafford added 13.
In the final, the Woodstock Wildcats defeated the Lawrenceville-Bristol Carleton North Stars 75-71 as player of the game Sharolyn Higgs scored 18, McCue 15, McMillan 13, along with 11 boards, and Everly 12, along with 12 boards. The Wildcats led 46-23 at the half and by as many as 16 before Williams rallied the Stars to within 72-71 with 1:20 to play. But Woodstock iced it at the line. Higgs told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner that “we knew they had nothing to lose. So we had that pressure on our shoulders.” McCue said “I have no idea how we kept our composure. I guess we just did. When it was 72-71, we were shaking – I still am – and we were really, really scared. I think just taking our time and doing what we usually do, not trying to do other things, helped us at the end.” Wildcats coach David Daye said Higgs, McCue and McMillan “played well. They struggled at times but they kept their chins up and kept going. The found it was a long floor and it is.” Williams led the Stars with 27. Saulis added 15, while McIsaac nabbed 11 boards.
