Demerchant told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner that “we were too hyper at the first of the game we got off to a bad start – Fredericton was up 15-11 nine minutes in – but we calmed down a lot, especially in the second half.” Wildcats coach John McKay said “I always felt we didn’t have the killer instinct. Tonight, we had the killer instinct. The game was everything as far as the girls were concerned. Their confidence level really came up last week.” Forbes led the Black Kats with 23, including five treys. Robertson added 9, Rogers 6, Foreman 4 and Crowther 2. Black Kats coach Tony Burns said “they beat the hell out of us. In just about all facets of the game. We couldn’t get a BB (bullet) inside their defence. … They were killing us man-to-man so we switched to a zone to try to control them. But the move backfired and the game was over five minutes into the second half. DeMerchant and Cook and Grant just showed so much poise. They were so much quicker … They were forcing Sarah (Forbes) to take shots we didn’t want to take. They were giving her the tough shots, knowing full well that one player can’t win a game by herself at this level.”
