In quarterfinals of the first, six-team ‘B’ tournament, for school with enrolments under 100, with the winner to qualify for the ‘A’ draw, held in Plaster Rock, the host Tobique Valley Panthers clipped the Aroostook Huskies 31-17. Robertson paced the Panthers with 8. Stewart added 6, Green 5, Briggs 4, Colbourne 4 and Cormier 4. Knowles paced the Huskies with 12. L Grant added 2, Hudson 2 and Saunders 1, while Howard, M Grant, S Grant, Briggs, McAlly, Taylor, O’Neil, Joyce, Knowles, O’Regan, Dufour and Gagnon were scoreless.
In the other quarterfinal, the Woodstock Thunder clubbed the Perth Rangers 52-11 as Hopkins scored 26, Montgomery 23 and Graham 3. E Johnson led the Rangers with 6. A Johnson added 3 and Wade 2, while Pirie, Mockler, Clark, E Gamblin, Parish, MacPhail, Brayall, McAllister and M Gamblin were scoreless.
In the semis, the Plaster Rock Tobique Valley Panthers clipped the Woodstock Wildcats 30-19 as Stewart scored 13, Colbourne 10 and Robertson 7. Hopkins paced the Wildcats with 14. Montgomery added 5.
In the other semi, the Grand Falls Bulldogs dispatched the Florenceville Falcons 39-32 as P Poitras scored 15, B Poitras 13, McLaughlin 9 and C LeBlanc 2. Greene led the Falcons with 20. Peters added 7 and DeMerchant 5.
In the final, the Plaster Rock Tobique Valley Panthers defeated the Grand Falls Bulldogs 33-6 as Stewart scorec 14, Robertson 12 and Colbourne 5. P Poitras led the Bulldogs with 4. LeBlanc added 2.
