In the northeast sectional and provincial quarterfinals, held in Miramichi, the 2nd-seeded Saint John Rothesay Regional Red Hawks clocked the 3rd-seeded Sackville Tantramar Regional Titans 103-64. The Titans included Cohen Patterson, Lucas Cormier, Matt Kaye, Seamus Lyon, Collin Mullin, Carlos Ponton-Arndt, Devin Mullin, Jason Wilson, Adryon Thompson.
The top-seeded Miramichi James M. Hill Tommies dusted the Lawrenceville-Bristol Carleton North Stars 67-53. The North Stars included Cody O’Neil, Johnny Ritchie.
In the southwest sectional, held in Woodstock, the 3rd-seeded St. George Fundy High Mariners clubbed the 2nd-seeded Salisbury JMA Armstrong Cougars 74-47 as Owen Jones scored 16, Shane Brown 14, Noah Anthony 12 and Dylan Cooke 9.
In the last quarterfinal, the top-seeded Woodstock Thunder stomped the 4th-seeded Bathurst High Phantoms 108-47.
In the provincial semis, the Saint John Rothesay Regional Red Hawks dispatched the Miramichi James M. Hill Tommies 71-55.
In the other semi, the Woodstock Thunder smacked the St. George Fundy High Mariners 84-55. Tristan French led the Mariners with 16. Noah Anthony added 13 and Owen Jones 8.
In the final, the Saint John Rothesay Regional Red Hawks edged the Woodstock Thunder 89-86 in triple overtime. Rothesay led 63-58 lead with 2:28 to play but Woodstock’s Lucas Tompkins drained a pair of long treys to force overtime with the score knotted at 66. In the first overtime, Matt Baker gave Rothesay a 73-71 lead but Tompkins hit a runner at the buzzer to knot the score at 73. In the second OT, Rothesay led 78-76 when Tompkins hit a bucket inside to tie the score. A shot by Red Hawk Isaac Bujold hit the rim forcing a third overtime. Rothesay took an early 85-82 lead but the Thunder knotted the score. Red Hawk Ken Daley drained a trey with just over a minute to play before Woodstock’s Alex Vadureaunu went 1-2 from the line to make it 88-86 with 9.7 seconds to play. Rothesay inbounded to Matt Baker with eight seconds left and he was fouled by Woodstock’s Cordell Paul. He hit 1-2 from the line to pull out the win for Rothesay. The Red Hawks led 16-13 after one quarter. The Thunder led 36-34 at the half and 48-45 after three quarters. Matt Baker paced the Red Hawks with 38 on 15-28 from the floor, 1-1 from the arc, 7-13 from the line, 17 boards and 6 assists. Ken Daley added 21 on 8-18 from the floor, 2-7 from the arc, 3-6 from the line, 14 boards and 5 assists. Jamie McNamee scored 18 on 6-15 from the floor, 5-12 from the arc, 1-2 from the line, 4 boards and 4 assists. Logan Forret notched 5 on 2-9 from the floor, 1-6 from the arc, 8 boards and 4 assists. Jack Hovey added 5 on 2-4 from the floor, 1-2 from the line, 2 boards and 3 assists. Thomas MacDonald added 2 on 1-4 from the floor and 5 boards, while Isaac Bujold, Jack Shaw, Dylan Young, Mike Armstrong and Rob Gautier were scoreless. Armstrong nabbed 3 boards, while Bujold dished 3 assists. The Red Hawks hit 34-82 (.414) from the floor, 9-27 (.333) from the arc and 12-23 (.521) from the line, while garnering 70 boards, including 16 on the offensive glass, 23 turnovers, 8 steals and 24 fouls. Lucas Tompkins paced the Thunder with 33 on 8-20 from the floor, 6-10 from the arc, 11-15 from the line, 5 boards and 4 assists. Norm Burry added 22 on 7-29 from the floor, 0-7 from the arc, 8-8 from the line, 9 boards and 4 assists. Brett Drost notched 10 on 4-10 from the floor, 2-4 from the arc and 2 boards. Alex Vadureaunu scored 5 on 2-9 from the floor, 1-2 from the line and 4 boards. Jacob McBride notched 5 on 2-5 from the floor, 1-3 from the arc, 9 boards and 4 assists. Macauley Martin added 5 on 2-6 from the floor, 1-4 from the arc and 4 boards. Keiran Rioux scored 4 on 1-3 from the floor, 2-2 from the line and 3 boards. Daniel Hawkes notched 2 on 1-2 from the floor, 0-2 from the line and 2 assists, while Anthony Pitcher and Cordell Paul were scoreless. Pitcher and Paul each dished 2 assists.
