In the other semi, the host Harvey Lakers dumped the McAdam Warriors 76-66. McAdam led 16-14, 36-30 and 52-51 at the quarters. Lakers were a little cold to star. “We sort of went back to our pre-Christmas accuracy and didn’t shoot well at all,” said coach David McMullin. “In the second half, we started shooting a little better, and we had 17 points from players off our bench in the fourth quarter.” Gordon Robinson paced the Lakers with 14. Gabriel Walton added 13, including 7 in the final quarter, Jacob Wood 12, along with 11 assists, Justin Bernard 12, Thomas Murphy 10 and post Ryker Hatch 6, all in the final two minutes.         In the final, the Fredericton Devon Park Christian Eagles stuffed the Harvey Lakers 66-48 after leading 25-6, 37-17 and 52-36 at the quarters. The Eagles got off to a fast start and never relented. With a starting five that lacked a player taller than 5-11, the Eagles packed their zone in tight and forced the taller Lakers to shoot jump shots. “We came out with more intensity and had more desire to win. Last time we came out flat,” guard Matthew Harrington told the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal. He added that the Eagles were determined to avenge a loss to Harvey two weeks earlier in the regionals. “We decided to really pinch in on their big guys this time and it worked.” The Lakers shot 19-59 from the floor and the Eagles capitalized on many of the misses for transition buckets, while shooting 26-55 from the floor. Joel Bishop paced the Eagles with 22 points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists. Brandon Meikle added 13 points and three assists, Jordan Forsythe 10, Matthew Harrington 9, along with 3 steals, Brittany Gilliss 6 and Zach Paget 6. Thomas Murphy paced the Lakers with 19 points and 4 boards. Justin Bernard added 10 and Gabriel Walton 8. “We didn’t handle the ball well in the early part. We didn’t get back and we didn’t make shots, so it was a tough beginning,” Lakers coach Dave McMullin said. “We tried to come back and we had a few runs but we really couldn’t put much together.” Joel Bishop was chosen player of the game for the Eagles, while Thomas Murphy earned the laurels for the Lakers. The Eagles may have been the first squad to capture a title with a starting line-up featuring a girl, Brittany Gillis, who held her own all season with the boys. “It’s a change for her, it’s a change for our league to have a girl come in,” said coach Jonathan McAllon. “It’s one thing to have a girl come in, it’s another thing to have a girl come in who can really play ball. She can play. If you don’t defend her, she’s going to score. She didn’t start at the first of the year…we allowed her to adapt and other schools to adapt. But she’s really done a great job.”
