In the final, the top-seeded Woodstock Thunder clocked the 2nd-seeded St. Stephen Spartans 102-80 as Wetmore scored 36, including 23 in the first half, while nabbing 25 boards, Kearney 20 and Taylor 12. “This is great,” Wetmore told the Saint John Telegraph-Journal. “Some of us have been playing together since grade 7 and we’ve never won a championship.” Wetmore told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner that “I was just trying to go out and do the best I could. Rebounding? I think it was just a question of getting position on them and they couldn’t do anything about it.” Thunder coach Brian Boyd told the Telegraph-Journal that “our philosophy has always been that we’ll score well from the inside. When we do, we want him (Wetmore) scoring a lot of them.” The Thunder led 55-40 at the half. Robinson led the Spartans with 26. Weeks added 18, Wheaton 12 and Babcock 12. Spartans coach Don Walker said “they totally controlled the rebounds at both ends of the floor. Wetmore had a great night. It was very difficult to defend against him. We had enough points to win the night but we just didn’t get the defensive effort we needed.”
