Jill Lees led the Golden Bears with 16. …………………………………………………… In the other semi, the Swan River Swan Valley Tigers dispatched the Dauphin Clippers x-x. …………………………………………………… In the finals, the Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans crushed the Swan River Swan Valley Tigers 70-47 as Aubrie Shettler scored 30, Lee-Anne Featherstone 16 and Jayme Menzie 13. “We just didn’t have the jump that was necessary to beat those girls,” Tigers coach Ronn Vestby told the Swan Valley Star and Times. “We needed to block out. Their big kid scored 28 points on us. That was tough.” Chelsea Church and Brittnye Kroeker each scored 10 to pace the Tigers. Carla Price added 9. Neelin led 39-19 at the half and by as many as 32. “We need to work on some screen and roles and defensive positioning,” Vestby said. “I thought our two biggest weaknesses were rebounding and our defensive positioning. If we could’ve done something to resolve that it might have been a different outcome.”

In the wildcard game, the Portage Pats dusted the Swan River Swan Valley Tigers 89-81. The Tigers (coached by Ronn Vestby) included Chelsey Church, Brittnye Kroeker, Carla Price, Brittny Dubyk.

        In the quarterfinals, Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans defeated the Winnipeg t. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles 54-41. Ashley Macumber was chosen player of the game for the Trojans, while Hayley Murray earned the laurels for the Eagles. The Eagles (coached by Jody Rock) also included Ang Griffith, Katie Boyd, Katie O’Beirne, Krysten Mundle, Zabrah Ali, Stephanie Smith, Aliyah Ali, Clarise Mare, Cara McGurry and Kaley Robinson.

        The Portage Pats defeated the St. Norbert Celtics 53-52. Danni Cote was chosen player of the game for the Pats, while Allison Fair earned the laurels for the Celtics.

        The Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans dumped the Beausejour Edward Schreyer Barons 52-40 as Lee-Anne Featherstone scored 18. Jayme Menzies was chosen player of the game for the Spartans after adding 14, while Heather Hildebrand earned the laurels for the Barons. The Barons (coached by Ray Algera) also included Kari Schultz, Shona Litke, Jenn Wilgosh, Sandra Wyser, Krystle Szalai, Shauna Recksiedler, Jamie Lavallee, Colleen Clarke, Julianna Borkowsky, Samantha Markham and Shelena Smorang.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Morden Mohawks defeated the Winnipeg Elmwood Giants 61-49. Kelly Hoeppner was chosen player of the game for the Mohawks, while Melissa Durham earned the laurels for the Giants, who also included Candice Clarke.

        In the semis, the Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans defeated the Morden Mohawks 76-64. Aubrey Schettler was chosen player of the game for the Spartans, while Janessa Penner earned the laurels for the Mohawks. Jayme Menzies paced the Spartans with 33. Schettler added 30.

        In the other semi, the Portage Pats defeated the Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans 72-71. Ninna Forte was chosen player of the game for the Pats, while Amanda Gibson earned the laurels for the Trojans.

        In the bronze medal match, the R.D. Parker Trojans dumped the Morden Mohawks 50-45. Chantelle Winter was chosen player of the game for the Trojans, while Janessa Penner earned the laurels for the Mohawks.

        In the final, the Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans defeated the Portage Pats 66-44 to capture their third consecutive provincial crown. Aubrey Schettler was chosen player of the game for the Spartans after scoring 18 despite rolling an ankle in the first half. Jayme Menzies, who scored 17, said the title was as exciting as the previous two “but we had to work a lot harder for this one. I’m excited to have MVP, but it’s a five-player game. You can’t put all the things on just one person.” Lee Anne Featherstone added 16 and Sarah Lopes 10. Spartans coach Harry Crossin said “I think there was more pressure (in the semi) because it was the chance to get to the final. We were just happy to be there. We wanted to play well and get through it.” Schettler said “it feels great. I’m so proud of the team. Being in the last year of high school, it’s a great way to end.” Whitney Blight was chosen player of the game for the Pats.
