In the interzone playoffs, the Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans dispatched the Swan River Swan Valley Tigers 70-42 as Kirsten Davies scored 19. The Spartans led 39-18 at the half. “It was a tough game and my kids played very tough and with a lot of heart,” Tigers coach Ronn Vestby told the Swan Valley Star and Times. “Neelin was a strong team and a lot more physical than my kids.” Candace Ashcroft led the Tigers with 12.  The Tigers (coached by Vestby) also included Dawn Bordian, Janet Knispel, Natalie Coder.

In the quarterfinals, held in Winnipeg, the top-seeded Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans stomped the 8th-seeded Portage Pats 58-33 as Kirsten Davies scored 24. The Spartans led just 5-4 after one quarter but extended their margin to 36-9 at the half. “After a scary first quarter we got it in gear and pulled it out,” said Spartans coach Dave Malowski. Sarah Lancley added 9. Diana Meseyton paced the Pats with 7.

        The 2nd-seeded Winnipeg Westwood Warriors clipped the 7th-seeded Winnipeg Westgate Mennonite Wings 57-40. The Wings included Kristin Ullberg, Sally Paddock.

        The 6th-seeded Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans dumped the 3rd-seeded St. Norbert Celtics 47-39. The Celtics included Angela Stefaniuk.

        In the last quarterfinal, the 5th-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles whipped the 4th-seeded The Pas Margaret Barbour Spartans 70-37. The Spartans included Darcie Dunnigan, Tamsin Patience, Desiree Streit.

        In the semis, the 5th-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles stunned the top-seeded Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans 50-45. “The semifinal was the final in my mind,” said Spartans coach Dave Malowski. “Our two teams were the best here. The play in the other semifinal (between the Westwood Warriors and Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans) wasn’t

even close, but that’s the way the seedings worked.” Aisha Alfa paced the Eagles with 15. Kirsten Davies led the Spartans with 24.

        In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Winnipeg Westwood Warriors dispatched the 6th-seeded Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans 66-54.

        In the bronze medal match, the 6th-seeded Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans edged the top-seeded Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans 55-53. The Spartans (coached by Dave Malowski) included Kristen Davies, Melanie Sprung, Candace Reville, Erin Loewen, Sarah Lanceley.

        In the final, the 5th-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles edged the 2nd-seeded Winnipeg Westwood Warriors 47-42 to complete a girls-boys double at the AAA level. Eagles coach Pam Danis said her troops tempo wore down the Warriors, particularly the play of Malissa Lundgren.
