In the regional finals and provincial quarterfinals, the St. Laurent Hawks dumped the Pinawa Panthers 61-42.
The Grandview Spartans dumped the Dauphin Western Christian Mustangs 43-12.
The Sprague Ross L. Grey Raiders clipped the Rosenort Red Hawks 45-27.
In the last quarterfinal, the top-seeded Hamiota Huskies stomped the Hartney Hornets 92-18.
In the provincial semis, the 2nd-seeded St. Laurent Hawks thumped the 3rd-seeded Sprague Ross L. Gray Raiders 41-26.
In the other semi, the top-seeded Hamiota Huskies defeated the 4th-seeded Grandview Spartans 44-35 despite trailing 24-22 at the half. Debbie Zamonsky was named player of the game for the Spartans after scoring 16.
In the bronze medal match, the 4th-seeded Grandview Spartans defeated the 3rd-seeded Sprague Ross L. Gray Raiders 28-22. Melanie Safronetz was chosen player of the game for the Spartans after scoring 4. The Raiders also include Mary Jo Hovorka.
In the final, the top-seeded Hamiota Huskies edged the 2nd-seeded St. Laurent Hawks 51-47 to capture their fourth consecutive crown. “We thought this was our best chance to go all the way,” Hawks coach Art Koop told the Stonewall Argus. “All the credit has to go Hamiota though, they had key injuries but they still pulled it out.” The Huskies led by 11 with two minutes to play and survived a late 5-0 run from the Hawks. Jodi Desrochers was chosen player of the game for the Huskies.
