In the wildcard game, the Dauphin Western Christian Mustangs edged the Peguis Wolverines 56-54.
In the quarterfinals, held in Shoal Lake, Kevin Flett scored 29 and C.J. Hanson 18 as the 2nd-seeded wildcard Sprague Ross L. Gray Raiders dumped the Dauphin Western Christian Mustangs 69-54. Jon Bolton and Andrew Tucker each scored 12 for the Mustangs. The Mustangs also included Tim Bolton.
The St. Laurent Hawks thrash the Shoal Lake-Strathclair Skyhawks 100-52 as Richard Steinbleisser and Trevor Chartrand each scored 20. Wade Gamey hits 14 for the Skyhawks. Sean Robbins adds 12. The Skyhawks also included Scott Moffatt.
The top-seeded Ste. Anne Pointe des Chenes Les Cavaliers dump the Wabowden Mel Johnson Eagles 75-53 as Graham Carter scored 20 and Andre Beaupre 19. Adam Hilderbrandt leads the Eagles with 27. Derek Tazer adds 8.
In the last quarterfinal, the 4th-seeded Gilbert Plains Trojans stomped the 5th-seeded Glenboro Panthers 72-37 as Garret Dykun scored 36 and Tyrone Sanko 12. Willem Swanipoel scored 18 and Ian Hamilton 7 to lead Glenboro. Dykun was chosen player of the game for the Trojans. The Panthers (coached by Ryan Diehl and managed by Dayna Jamieson) also included Matt Craig, Jason Lussier, Kurt Biles, Derek Alcock, Cody Jonsson, Craig Biles, Gary Sewell, Cam Richmond, Shaun Dowd and Michael Jefferies.
In the semis, the 2nd-seeded wildcard Sprague Ross L. Gray Raiders whipped the St. Laurent Hawks 76-59 as C.J. Hanson scored 26 and Chase Beaudry 23. Trevor Chartrand notched 19 and Aaron Bruce 12 to pace the Hawks (coached by Andre Ducharme).
In the other semi, the top-seeded Ste. Anne Pointe des Chenes Les Cavaliers thumped the Gilbert Plains Trojans 95-75 as Graham Carter scores 43 and Pat Mourant 18. Garret Dykun led the Trojans with 30. Sean Gryba and Steegan Stoski each added 18.
In the bronze medal match, the 4th-seeded Gilbert Plains Trojans whipped the St. Laurent Hawks 86-68 in overtime, outscoring the Hawks 23-5 in the extra session. Garret Dykun led the Trojans with 25. Steegan Stoski added 23 and was chosen player of the game. The Hawks included Trevor Chartrand.
In the final, the top-seeded Ste. Anne Pointe des Chenes Les Cavaliers crushed the 2nd-seeded Sprague Ross L. Gray Raiders 86-60 to capture their second consecutive title. Jim Mourant paced Les Cavaliers with 28. Tournament MVP Graham Carter added 26. Kevin Flett led the Raiders with 21. C.J. Hanson added 19. The Raiders led 37-33 at the half. The Cavaliers finished (20-8) on the season. Asked how this year’s championship squad compares to last year’s team, Carter responded, “I think this team would have a slight edge.”
