The 4th-seeded Dauphin Western Christian Mustangs dumped the 5th-seeded Sprague Ross L. Gray Raiders 69-61 as Greg Brockman scored 16. The Raiders included Delvyn Cote, Darryl Pederson, Bryan Hulst.
The 3rd-seeded Steinbach Christian Flames thrashed the 6th-seeded Roblin St. Vladimir Knights 85-58 as Lydell Brandt scored 18. The Knights (coached by Marc Giasson) included Greg Solomon, Vince Lozinski, Andrew Maksymetz, John Nakonechny, Craig Zamonsky, Chris Hyshka, Chris Joyal, Derek Chaychuk, Mike Uhryn, Ian Marin, Mike Morris and Nick Sirdar.
In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Rossburn Raiders defeated the 7th-seeded Rosenort Red Hawks 79-70.
In the semis, the top-seeded St. Laurent Hawks edged the 4th-seeded Dauphin Western Christian Mustangs 66-61. Greg Brockman paced the Mustangs with 21. Jason Bandura added 20. “It was a tough loss of us,” Mustangs coach Jamie Lobert told the Dauphin Herald.
In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Steinbach Christian Flames edged the 2nd-seeded Rossburn Raiders 82-80 in overtime. The Raiders led 38-37 at the half and forced overtime by hitting a bucket with four seconds remaining on the clock to knot the score at 77. Ron Hrycak paced the Raiders with 31. Lydell Brandt led the Flames with 24.
In the bronze medal match, the 4th-seeded Dauphin Western Christian Mustangs dumped the 2nd-seeded Rossburn Raiders 72-63 as Greg Brockman scored 30. The Raiders (coached by Steve Sullivan) included Steve Dziver, Ashley Swereda, Chris Kostesky, Mark Charney, Derek Lepischak, Dynel Trakalo, Ron Hrycak, Shawn Hersack, Jaret Saley and Jamie Temovetsky.
In the final, the top-seeded St. Laurent Hawks dumped the 3rd-seeded Steinbach Christian Flames 43-36 to capture their third title in four seasons. The Hawks led 17-15 at the half and 33-23 after three quarters. Tournament MVP Chris Lavallee paced the Hawks with 23. Lydell Brandt led the Flames with 11.
