Using a revised format, the MHSAA held one large jamboree in Brandon, with four regional tournament winners in each of the four divisions of play invited to the party.

        In the provincial quarterfinals, the Pinawa Panthers whipped the Rosenort Red Hawks 80-53. The Red Hawks (coached by Ryan Friesen and Ken Quiring) included Jarret Siemens, Mike McCallough, Keith Kornelsen, Tom Heinrichs, Joel Dueck, Jude Jordan, Kendall Friesen, Stephen Kehler, Stacy Barkman, Brent Dueck and Robert Cornelsen.

        The 4th-seeded Roblin St. Vladimir College Knights stomped the Nelson House Roland Lauze Warriors 80-40.

        The Treherne Tigers defeated Rossburn Raiders 63-58. The Raiders included Cory Hrubenik, Geoff Ternovetsky, Mark Charney.

        In the last quarterfinal, the St. Laurent Hawks whipped the Rivers Rams 93-43.

In the semis, the top-seeded St. Laurent Hawks the 4th-seeded Roblin St. Vladimir College Knights 50-45. Hawks coach Art Koop, a former University of Winnipeg star, had started the boy’s program three years earlier. “The kids are great, they’re the best kids in the whole wide world and I wouldn’t trade them for anything. They have so much heart, they love the game, they love to win and they’re all friends. That’s me, that’s how I played. What you see on court is me. Play 100 per cent all the time, tenacious, going all out and never quitting. I always wanted to win and I still do. The kids know it and they pick up on it.” Joe Saltise was named player of the game for the Hawks. The game was tied at 23 at the half and at 34 after three quarters. Saltise gave the Hawks a 46-45 lead with 59 seconds to play.

In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Pinawa Panthers clipped the 5th-seeded Treherne Tigers x-x.

        In the bronze medal match, the 4th-seeded Roblin St. Vladimir College Knights dumped the Treherne Tigers 58-35.

In the final, the top-seeded St. Laurent Hawks whipped the 2nd-seeded Pinawa Panthers 62-38 to capture their second consecutive crown.
