The Winnipeg Tec Voc Hornets whipped the Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs 39-15 as Hella Koegal scored 20 and Mary McIntosh 9. Esther Hildebrand led the Zodiacs with 5. The Zodiacs (coached by David Winters) also included Susan Frieson, Agnes Hildebrand, Sharon Frieson, Deanna Frieson, Esther Hildebrand.
In the last quarterfinal, the Hamiota Huskies edged the Portage la Prairie Pats 22-19 as Marilyn Mathison scored 13, Evelyn Mathison 3, Kae Fraser 2, Gail Bailey 2 and Glennis Asseltine 2. The Pats led 11-8 at the half. Dorothy Prior paced the Pats with 12. Portage led 11-6 at the half. In the semis, the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kweens dumped the Hamiota Huskies 25-19 after leading 15-7 at the half. Angie Peacosh paced the Kopper Kweens with 9. Mary Masson added 5 and Monica Vickery 2. Marilyn Mathison led the Huskies with 18. It was Hamiota’s first loss of the season. The Kopper Kweens led 15-7 at the half. The Huskies also included Evelyn Mathison, Kae Fraser, Gail Bailey, Glennis Asseltine, Jessie Williams, Phyliss Ferguson, Florence English, Eleanor McNiven, Eileen Douglas and Emily Evaniuk.
In the other semi, the Winnipeg Tec Voc Hornets edged the Winnipeg Glenlawn Lions 22-18 as Hella Koegal scored 11 and Edith McInnes 6. The score was knotted at 10 at the half. Marcia Sykes paced the Lions with 6. Susan Helyar added 6 and Myrna Marcyshyn 4.
In the final, the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kweens nipped the Winnipeg Tec Voc Hornets 32-31 as Lila Larson hit a long bomb with two seconds to play. The Hornets had led 31-28 but Angie Peacosh notched a bucket in the final minute to draw the Kopper Kweens within one. Angie Peacosh led the Kopper Kweens with 12. Lila Larson added 7 and Mary Masson 6. Hella Koegal led the Hornets with 13. Carol Lawrence added 12.
