        In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Winnipeg St. Paul’s Crusaders nipped the 7th-seeded Winnipeg Kelvin Clippers 70-69 as Tanner Draward scored 20 and Joey Nitychoruk 18. Michael Thorne-Finch paced the Clippers with 20. Jordan Fotheringham added 13. The Clippers (coached by Chris Young, assisted by Andrew Forsythe and Jordan Kussin) also included Kyle Cooper, Randall Viray, Kristjan Lamont, Jordan Ankrah, Edgardo Valera, Nasrisheikh-Hassan, Rommel Lorenzo, Max Amrom, Abdul Sesay and Rodel Aaron.

        In the semis, the top-seeded Winnipeg Oak Park Raiders defeated the 4th-seeded Winnipeg Sturgeon Heights Huskies 72-65 as Elliott Taylor scored 22, David Kohler 13 and Graeme Fardoe 10. A.J. Basi paced the Huskies with 22. Dhurpaul Brar added 13, Tanner Jordan Lambert 12 and Eben Rawluk 12. “We just had to play our game, run the floor, box out, play defence and hit,” said point guard Elliott Taylor.

        In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Winnipeg St. Paul’s Crusaders clipped the 3rd-seeded Winnipeg Dakota Lancers 83-71 as Tanner Draward scored 43, Amir Ali 14, Joey Nitychoruk 12. Brett Carter paced the Lancers with 26. Phillip Labongo added 22. Draward said it’s been a while since he scored as many points in one game, adding things went well for the Crusaders last night. “We were doing a good job going inside, and it was working for us. I have to go for my teammates getting it inside, because without them I couldn’t have done it.”

        In the final, the top-seeded Winnipeg Oak Park Raiders dumped the 2nd-seeded Winnipeg St. Paul’s Crusaders 66-56 as Elliot Taylor scored 19 and Graeme Fardoe 12. Joey Nitychoruk led the Crusaders with 23. Raiders guard Cash Blanca sank a pair of free throws, stole the ball and assisted on the next bucket with a minute left in the game to help lift the Raiders to the win. St. Paul’s went on a crushing 15-0 second-quarter run to lead 37-22 at the half. But the Raiders stormed back, outscoring St. Paul’s 24-11 in the third quarter with Graeme Fardoe’s three-point bucket tying the score at 46-46 late in that frame. The Raiders held St. Paul’s scoreless for the final 3:31 of the game and went on an 11-0 run with tournament MVP Elliot Taylor scoring five points on foul shots and Dave Kohler scoring four points along with Blanca’s two. “I’m just so happy right now. I just knew this team had the ability to stop them and we did,” said Blanca. Coach Randy Kusano said he was proud of the Raiders. “It was just unbelievable what they did, to come back against a great team like that. It’s really something to be proud of,” said Kusano, in his 31st year of high school coaching.
