In the quarterfinals, the 7th-seeded Winnipeg Sisler Spartans stunned the 2nd-seeded Winnipeg Oak Park Raiders 52-51. The Raiders (coached by Randy Kusano and Darren Klapak) included Kevin Magron, James Boehm, Darren Ross, Greg Paseshnik, Lenin Mangeron, Rob Thimm.
The 6th-seeded Winnipeg Daniel McIntyre Maroons dumped the 3rd-seeded Winnipeg Vincent Massey Trojans 55-37. The Trojans (coached by Jerry Hildebrand) included Ryland Hart, Jason Bohia, Jay Ray.
The 5th-seeded Winnipeg Tec Voc Hornets edged the 4th-seeded Brandon Crocus Plains Plainsmen 65-63. The Plainsmen included Jason Slater, Kevin Pratt.
In the last quarterfinal, the top-seeded Winnipeg Shaftesbury Titans dumped the 8th-seeded Winnipeg Kelvin Clippers 67-51.
In the semis, the top-seeded Winnipeg Shaftesbury Titans clocked the 5th-seeded Winnipeg Tec Voc Hornets 67-53.
In the other semi, the 6th-seeded Winnipeg Daniel McIntyre Maroons whipped the 7th-seeded Winnipeg Sisler Spartans 85-60.
In the bronze medal match, the 7th-seeded Winnipeg Sisler Spartans dumped the 5th-seeded Winnipeg Tec Voc Hornets 65-52. The Hornets (coached by Greg Bouchard) included Kevin Chief, Richard McCurski, Darren Champagne.
In the final, the top-seeded Winnipeg Shaftesbury Titans defeated the 6th-seeded Winnipeg Daniel McIntyre Maroons 61-59 as 6-11 post Todd MacCulloch scored 50. It was the Titans first provincial crown in the school’s 24-year history. Titan forward Murray Davidson, who scored 8, told the Winnipeg Free Press that “Shaftesbury has never gone this far ever and it was uncharted territory. We didn’t know how to handle it but the guys just played great.” Maroons coach Tony Scott noted that “the kids did the best they could. They worked hard. They didn’t give up and kept on battling.”
