The Trojans led 16-4, 42-8 and 53-14 at the quarters. Doug Ross paced the Vikings with 8. Jim Thorsteinson added 6. The Vikings (coached by Dick McDonald, assisted by Clayton Wade) also included Lasby Lowes, Bob Pineo, Murray McMillan, Wayne Purdy, Larry Delavall, Ted Gibson, Ken Butler.
The Winnipeg Dakota Lancers clocked the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kings 108-42 after leading 29-7, 54-24 and 76-30 at the quarters. Terry Ball paced the Lancers with 33. Ken Johanesson added 20, Jan Kreutzer 20 and Ken Christiansen 16. Bill McDonald paced the Kopper Kings with 16. The Kopper Kings also included Ralph Brown.
The Winnipeg Daniel McIntyre Maroons defeated the Winnipeg Mennonite Brethren Hawks 45-37 after leading 12-9, 25-20 and 38-29 at the quarters. Jeff Konchak paced the Maroons with 13. Ron Capelle added 10. Don Rempel led the Hawks with 10. Ed Wall added 9. The Hawks also included W. Klassen, Ron Enns.
In the last quarterfinal, the Winnipeg Garden City Gophers clipped the “B” division champ Lowe Farm Lancers 60-47 as Len Williams and Bill Anthony each scored 14. Ralph Groening paced the Lancers with 22. The Lancers (coached by Hardy Kehler) also included Ed Wiebe, Art Wiebe, Harold Dyck, Earl Dyck, Eugene Hildebrand, Bert Friesen, Paul Friesen, Larry Gluck and Menno Wiebe.
In the semis, Bill Gallagher scored 21 and Grant Dunn 12 as the Winnipeg Vincent Massey Trojans defeated the Winnipeg Garden City Gophers 51-44. Bob Anthony led the Gophers with 13. Len Williams added 8.
In the other semi, the Winnipeg Dakota Lancers defeated the Winnipeg Daniel McIntyre Maroons 50-46 as Terry Ball scored 15 and Ken Johanneson 13. Ron Kapelle paced the Maroons with 14. Jeff Konchak added 11.
In the final, the Winnipeg Vincent Massey Trojans captured their second consecutive crown by dumping the Winnipeg Dakota Lancers 49-47 in overtime as Bill Gallagher scored the winner with one second to play. The Trojans led 15-9, 22-15 and 31-29 at the quarters, primarily on the strength of the boardwork of Grant Dunn. The Lancers fought back to tie the game at 43 as Terry Ball hit a bucket in the final seconds of regulation play. Gallagher finished with 15 points for Vincent Massey, while Ball scored 19 for Winnipeg Dakota.
