In the quarterfinals, the Winnipeg Vincent Massey Trojans defeated the Winnipeg West Kildonan Wolverines 54-36. The Wolverines included Lloyd Baluk, Laurie Armstrong, G Anaka.

        The Winnipeg Nelson McIntyre Normacs clipped the Brandon Harrison Hawks 51-46 as Bob LaPointe scored 14 and Bob Nixon 14. The score was knotted at 20 at the half. Dave Bjarnason led the Hawks with 14. Joss March added 10. The Hawks (coached by Hicks and managed by Tony Wiewel) also included Bill Gadd, Gary Brawn, Charlie Lamb, Ray Hurd, Russ Reid, Jack Woodward, Dave Bender, Glen Edwards and Wayne Gray.

        The Winnipeg Glenlawn Lions clipped the Winnipeg Daniel McIntyre Maroons 66-55. The Maroons (coached by Fred Taylor) included Jeff Konchak, Bruce Silversides, Wes Crymble, Jim Simmons, Bruce Silversides, Ron Ritchie, Ted Kiesman,

Ihor Pona, Dave Ken, Ray Knispel, Lorne Stock, Dave Allan and Alex Petchkin.

In the last quarterfinal, the Winnipeg Sisler Spartans edged the Winnipeg Mennonite Brethren Hawks 41-40. The Hawks included Ed Wall, Don Jantzen.

In the semis, the Winnipeg Vincent Massey Trojans defeated the Winnipeg Sisler Spartans 46-28. Vincent Massey took a 29-15 lead at the half and breezed to a 46-28 victory as Sandy Hollinger scored 14, Jack Duncan 9 and Rick Ibbott 7. Jarvis Kohout led Sisler with 12 while city all-star centre Bill Irwin and fellow post Tim Ruppel both fouled out. Jerry Kozak added 4.

In the other semi, Winnipeg Nelson McIntyre Normacs defeated the Winnipeg Glenlawn Lions 48-46 in overtime as Dave Cook hit four free throws in the final minute to win the contest for McIntyre. Cook finished with 14, while Bob LaPointe added 11. Glenlawn, which had rallied from 10 points behind in the final quarter to tie the game at 44 in regulation play was paced by Bill Crockett’s 13 points, most of those the product of a fourth-quarter press which rattled Winnipeg Nelson McIntyre. Laurie Hawn added 8, Wayne Stewart 8 and Bob Williamson 7.

In the final, the Winnipeg Vincent Massey Trojans captured their second crown in three years as coach Vic Pruden’s squad put on a sterling display of defence, holding the Winnipeg Nelson McIntyre Normacs to a single field goal in the first half with its tough man-to-man- defence and eventually romping to a 60-33 victory. Starters Sandy Hollinger, Bill Gallagher, Jack Duncan, Grant Dunn and Don Poustie took command quickly but Pruden subbed ruthlessly every time a mistake was made, yanking his players back to the bench. Vincent Massey led 12-5, 24-16 and 40-22 at the quarters. Hollinger scored 16, Gallagher 16, Duncan 11, Dunn 11, Rick Ibbott 4 and Ross Brown 2. Winnipeg Nelson McIntyre was paced by Guy Arnott’s 13 points. Big guns Brian Nixon, Bob LaPointe and Dave Cooke were held to 5, 3 and 3 points respectively.
