In the quarterfinals, the Winnipeg St. Paul’s Crusaders stomped the Rivers Brooke Rams 66-27 as Ken Nieman scored 33, George Solylo 12 and Dennis Long 10. Dave Nelson led the Rams with 15. The Rams (coached by Ralph Trombley) also included Garry Latchman, Stewart Farnell, Harry Gamble, Bob Gariepy, Eric Linden, Craig Ashley, Jim Lewis, Garry Graham.

        The Winnipeg St. John’s Tech Tigers clubbed the Selkirk Lord Selkirk Regional Royals 72-22 as Ron Golovitch scored 13, Bob Kingsmill 12 and Nick Yacheson 10. Bob Boresky led the Royals with 11. The Royals also included B Malsoz, B Moison. The Royals had replaced the Dauphin Clippers at the last minute in the tournament draw because six of their players were participating in a juvenile hockey tournament.

The Winnipeg St. James Jimmies dusted the Altona W.C. Miller Aces (then Altona Collegiate) 65-42 as Peter Kuntz scored 24. Bob Wieler led the Aces with 18. The Aces led 12-11 after one quarter. The Jimmies led 26-22 at the half. The Aces (coached by Dave Dyck) also included Ken Buhr, Dave Hoeppner, Earl Dick, Bob Wister, Joe Fast, Vernard Villeneuve, Bob Schellenberg, Will Kheler, Garry Pohl and Jim Reimer.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kings crushed the Portage la Prairie Pats 61-40 as Don Gillespie scored 23, Al Mills 11 and Don Elkhart 11. Ed Gilroy led the Pats with 21. The Pats (coached by Ralph Rowley) also included Dave Gibb, Jim Ennis, Robbie Davis, Paul Pelletier.

In the semis, the Winnipeg St. James Jimmies defeated the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kings 62-48 after leading 21-3 after one quarter. Peter Kuntz paced the Jimmies with 17. Herb Cooper added 12 and Les Oliver 11. Don Gillespie led the Kopper Kings with 14. Don Elkhart added 9. The Kopper Kings also included Paul Ulrich.

        In the other semi, Winnipeg St. John’s Tech Tigers defeated Winnipeg St. Paul’s College Crusaders 42-37 as Eugene Senicki scored 13, Bob Kingsmill 12 and Nick Yacheson 9. Ken Nieman led the Crusaders with 15.

        In the final, the Winnipeg St. James Jimmies became the first suburban high school in the eight-year history of the tournament to win the title by thrashing the Winnipeg St. John’s Tech Tigers 58-37. St. James breezed after registering a 15-0 run in the fourth quarter, despite the loss of Bob Buckberrough and Howie McMillan to fouls. Peter Kuntz paced St. James with 23. Les Oliver added 13, Billy Wray 6, Al Miguez 4, Herb Cooper 4, Bob Buckberrough 4 and Howie McMillan 4. The Jimmies led 14-7, 28-16 and 41-31 at the quarters. Eugene Senicki paced the Tigers with 17. Ron Golovitch added 6. Tempers flared in the final quarter and Tiger Benson Wincure was ejected for pushing Peter Kuntz into a wall. Bob Kingsmill also fouled out in the affair, which featured 24 calls against the Jimmies and 21 against the Tigers.
